I actually agree with Wenger. The first game of the tournament is absolutely crucial. And its imperative you approach it with absolute focus And we obviously didn't! https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/germany-world-cup-2022-arsene-wenger-b1044688.html
Only Manuel Neuer and Leon Goretzka campaigned and were in favour of the protest gesture before the Japan game. The rest of the players preferred not to do anything like other nations [@DasErste] pic.twitter.com/XS85hyaWLL— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) December 4, 2022 According to @BILD, Neuer and Goretzka were the driving forces behind the discussions. Other players initially didn't want to do anything. When the gesture was decided, the likes of Kimmich was behind it, while other players viewed it critically as a distraction— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) December 4, 2022
More reason to strip the captaincy from Neuer. Goretzka and Kimmich doesn't really act like a leader. If these protest campaign to be resume in the build up to Euro, you can expect more humiliating result. Opponents will even more determined to beat the Germans.
I wonder just why Neuer is so dedicated to this whole protest campaign? I thought it was over after the Euros. I'll not surprise if he actually coming out of the closet somewhere in future.
more like he's a diehard SJW who took advantage of his captaincy to advocate. that's abuse of power, his job should be to lead the team in footy and help off field too, that's it.
Philipp Lahm is also vocally pro-LGBTQ+, but whenever he stepped onto the pitch he focused solely on football. Like you said, it looks like Neuer has used his captaincy as a platform to advocate his views.
Aren’t there rumors that Neuer might be gay though? Could explain his actions and reasons for doing so
Those rumours were a misinterpretation of something he once said by South American media. He actually said "it would be good if a professional football player came out because it would help others to do the same”.
I reckon we had divisions in the team. https://dohanews.co/only-two-germany-players-backed-hand-over-mouth-protest-at-world-cup-report/
Neuer should just retire. every goal conceded he looked horrible, like goals that shouldn't have been conceded on his part. he's ruining his legacy. Imagine he really decides to continue but then loses his #1 status would make him look bad. Like from a world class GK to bench. That's why I think he should strongly consider retire from NT. But its clear that home Euro is draw. Bet if Euro was elsewhere in Europe he would have retired. I don't see Neuer doing a Kahn and accepting the bench. Kahn was a real captain. Lost captaincy, got benched, still supported the team. And still helped Lehmann at WC06 and he was pretty good in final game vs Portugal for 3rd place.
Germany is the joke of football - the meme don’t stop coming in . It’s a bloody disaster … The boys now have to fight to come back
It's worth remembering that every time a team crashes out, there will be recriminations and axes to grind. The hunt is on to blame people. But that doesn't mean these are the real reasons Germany decided to have 8 stupid minutes against Japan
you know its true just by looking at 2 things -at Bayern, when Nubel transfers plan was that Nubel gets X amounts of matches every season. Neuer refused wanted to play ALL games without exceptions -at Germany, every time someone brings up if he'll lose his #1 or ter Stegen (this is pre-WC tbc). He basically quickly puts it down and at how there is a hierachy and he's #1 and it'll stay that way also even when Neuer isn't 100% fit he still insists on playing every match. Like he's an ego maniac. I think Flick should make #1 more open. Give ter Stegen a run of games and see how he does and make a decision ASAP. Don't make Neuer #1 by default.
I place more stock in the reporting that Flick shirked making the big decisions about midfield, fullbacks etc As Lahm has said, the midfield 3 of Goretzka/Kimmich/Gundogan should have started vs Japan, and had time to establish itself. Instead he kept mixing things up - subbing out a dominant Gundo for Goretzka - why? Same at fullback -never settled on anyone, even moving Kimmich to right back. Same in attack with Mueller/Havertz - why? If you want to play false 9, Havertz clearly offers more than Mueller at this stage.
HE TALKS ABOUT A RADICAL STEP Captain Manuel Neuer (36) was also controversial at the end of the World Cup and did not look good with Japan's 1-2 goal. Likewise with the Costa Rica goals conceded. Even before the tournament, there were doubts as to whether Neuer was fit enough for the World Cup. The goalkeeper suffered from a persistent left shoulder injury. . Does there have to be an open three-way battle for number 1 between Neuer, Marc-André ter Stegen (30) and Kevin Trapp (32) in the next year and a half? In the BILD program "Lothar lays loose", record national player Lothar Matthäus (61) demands the duel, says when asked: "I'll go with you right away, we should use that. Because you have the quality, you can also try out a ter Stegen, Trapp or Leno in the next few games, give them the opportunity to show over 90 minutes whether you can rely on them. Especially after the last game against Costa Rica, where Neuer didn't look so good twice - he made mistakes that you don't know about him." Open goalkeeper fight? We remember that from the time before the 2006 World Cup between Oliver Kahn (53) and Jens Lehmann (53). At the end of 2004, the new national coach, Jürgen Klinsmann, rotated the two games until the tournament – and in the end surprisingly chose challenger Lehmann as World Cup goalkeeper. The duel caused a lot of explosives, but pushed both to top performances. It worked before the home World Cup, now also before the home EM? In any case, Lothar Matthäus would have no qualms about ter Stegen or Trapp: “All three are world class. Even if Manu should fail, I have no worries with Trapp or ter Stegen. Does Neuer see it that way too? Immediately after the World Cup he had rejected a resignation: "As long as I'm invited and show my performance, I can rule that out." He sees himself as a matter of course as number 1 and captain. By the way: Klinsmann had first taken away the captain's armband from Kahn and then declared a duel with Lehmann. https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/...lick-ein-radikaler-schritt-82151612.bild.html
