Match 33, Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha, Brasília.

Brazil ends its play in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup facing the African team of Cameroon. We earned 3 points against Croatia, attacked Mexico relentlessly only to be thwarted by their goalkeeper, and now, we fight for first place. It has been quite some time since Brazil faced a group stage match in a competition and looked at it as a must-win situation.

Cameroon, routed 4-0 by Croatia, is out; Song received a red card and will not play against us.

Note: this match will occur after Netherlands vs. Chile and at the same time as Croatia vs. Mexico; as such, Brazil will know who will be first and second from Group B even as it will know the results of the other Group A fixture, whose result may determine Brazil's fate in the round of 16 if Brazil does not defeat Cameroon.

Previous matches in the World Cup:

    1994 group stage: Brazil 3, Cameroon 0

    Most recent match:
    2003 Confederations Cup
    Brazil 0, Cameroon 1

Worst team group, missing there 2 best players and in turmoil. We need an impressive win here IMO for confidence purposes. While I don't think either Fred or Paulinho should start this game, a goal would do them a world of good.

    I start Maicon as well.

    How I would line up

    1. J. Cesar
    2. Maicon
    3. Dante
    4. T. Silva
    5. D. Luiz
    6. Marcelo
    7. L. Gustavo
    8. Hulk
    9. D. Alves
    10. Neymar
    11. Oscar
    I'm predicting a 1-1 draw

    Mengao,

I know what you are laughing at! ! I may be abit crazy, but I know that D. Alves is not a number 9!! I just listed him as the 9th player!!

    Kaka,

I actually was gonna predict a 1-0 Cameroon win!! But I didnt wanna see D. Luiz headbutt D. Alves!!:p

I just can't believe we have Fred as a starting striker/Forward and Jo as a sub. They both seem very average to me compared to other top players at this position in the World Cup. I won't be impressed if either scores against Cameroon. They are the weakest in the group! I also feel Paulinho and Gustavo together creates a lack of creativity and offensive threat.

Scolari needs to wake up with his dinosaur stubbornness so doesn't end up becoming the Brazilian Del Bosque. Paulinho needs to sit this one out in favor of Fernandinho, and either Maicon [preferably] or Maxwell come in for either of our lunatic clown of fullbacks.

JC: Maicon, TS, DL, Marcelo; Gustavo, Fernandinho, Oscar, Willian, Neymar; Hulk

Hulk has done very well at CF with club, I'd give him a try there, he cannot be worst than Fred/Jo.

Mind you, Scolari WILL go with same lineup minus Ramires.

    Going back to a 4-4-2 with 2 d-mids and 2 attacking mids.

Do people suggest these line-ups just to trigger me?

The question is who could of Scolari called that is better? We could of done w/o Jo but we all knew going into this that the CF pool was absolutely dire at the moment. Fred is the best striker out of a bad bunch. Costa is the only striker that is a significant upgrade over Fred IMO and he reject us.

What did the 5 fingers say to the face???...........SLAP!!!!:D

But all jokes aside we really would benefit to going back to a 3 centerback defense and Maicon can cover the left back better(and can cross the ball better) than D. Alves, who's much better offensively!! With Cameroon we need to use the "false" 9 cause our "real" 9 isn't working right now!! But I'm praying that he does a "Rossi" and spark in the later rounds!!

Fred and Paulinho will get another chance as Felipao is loyal. If they perform like they have been, they will get yanked for good. The downside to this is that Cameroon is ass in this tournament, and Brasil will likely win comfortably. Then once they hit Columbia or Holland (hopefully not), they will bring the squad down.

My Opinion against a team like Holland or Columbia

    JC
    Alves TS DL Marcelo
    Luiz G
    Hernanes Oscar
    Hulk/Willian Neymar
    Jo

Along with Columbia, Cameroon are my fav team...seriously...African football has moved forward but still lacks precision so the play is tends to breakdown a bit. If this Cameroon team had precision to go with their skill, pace and power...MAMA!

Fred needs to be visible lol and Hulk smash.

Playing Hulk as the CF and Willian in Hulks current position sounds interesting. Wonder if Felipao has thought of this...

There is more of a chance he's thought of playing Henrique as our captain and CB instead of Thiago Silva.

Let's hope this stubbornness by Scolari don't cost us later on.
