Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Wout Weghorst as new striker — exploring the conditions of the deal as @footmercato reported. 🔴 #MUFC€10m buy option is included in the deal so it’s up to Besiktas and Burnley. The player already gave his green light. pic.twitter.com/seVbedNtZP— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 7, 2023 Training match-up against Martinez might get awkward.
His first name sounds like clout, but with the W instead of the C and his family name as Weghorst, without an e.
He needs to make his mark before jota and Diaz come back. Both are clinical than him from epl point of view. If he keeps playing the eredivisie style he will end up like depay. I mean cutting inside. But he is quicker though compared to depay. He needs to explore other avenues and most importantly scoring goals. The other thing I noticed is how him cutting inside is clashing with Nunez (congestion). Nunez is too from time to time starts drifting outside.
Also, Robertson essentially plays as a left wing back, and eats up Gakpo’s space significantly. It will be interesting to see how they will figure this out. Gakpo is dangerous when he’s on the ball, but without proper space, he will be rather ineffective. Maybe he will be asked to drift to the center more often, eventually, which is great… (I hope) he will grow to a central forward. I had compared him before to somebody like Kanu or Adebayor… skinny, lanky forward with burst, and eyes on goal. Gakpo’s finishing is very much still evolving, but he can get there. Overall, an uneventful debut for Gakpo, started well but then disappeared from the game. It’s obvious that he wasn’t trusted yet by this new teammates, several occasions he was blatantly ignored and passed up when he’s open
Danjuma came off the bench in the 88th minute as Villareal defeated Real Madrid. Had one shot well saved by Courtois. But the big (embarrassing) storyline was his miss on an open wide net, when opponent's GK was way up the pitch attacking a corner kick He's not helping his transfer cause! Around 2:30 mark in the clip here. On a seperate note. Calvin Stengs played full match. No goals or assists, but received decent ratings from a couple sites. He created the most chances in match, and 80% pass accuracy. Looks like he's settling well in his new AM (no. 10) role. Something to monitor how he progresses... he had a rough getting minutes earlier this season, but watch Van Bommel doing his magic!
Looks like a done deal https://www.ad.nl/transfer-talk/wou...naar-manchester-united-af-te-ronden~a0779c21/ And Depay off to Atletico
Bournemouth are the latest reportedly interested in Danjuma. He's a hot commodity for sure, though all of his suitors are underwhelming... clubs at the bottom of EPL involved in regelation battle. Everton, Aston Villa, West Ham. I don't know, I guess it could be a good thing. He might get minutes immediately, and can always transfer up in the future.
Looks like a loan deal for the remainder of this season. Weghorst remains property of Burnley, who are a very strong bet to win promotion back to the EPL. I wonder if Wout will go back to them if they return to the top flight?
The loss of Van Dijk is clearly showed today. No leadership, organization, stability or reliability in the back. It is just bad timing for Gakpo.
Jota and Diaz will nail him down to the bench if he continues this way. This is not good. Did he make the wrong move by choosing liverpool.
