He is only 15 yrs old but already 6 feet tall and scoring goals by the buckets. He has 9 goals in 5 club matches, and 7 goals in 5 matches for Oranje U15.

From what I read from someone who follows the youth teams closely, he was well rated. According to that person it's a much bigger loss than losing Brobbey would be as he is a very complete player and the best striking prospect in the Ajax youth teams. It's no wonder Ajax can't bring out a striker when they all fricken leave so young! Malen, Hoogewerf, Redan, this kid and probably Brobbey...

Man, I know the game isn’t over yet and Feyenoord can still turn things around but Gravenberch is really making his case as a starter for Oranje this coming Euro.

He has been so good lately, now even breaking the deadlock in the classic vs Feyenoord. At only 18 he’s become so important for Ajax now.

Edit: He’s been subbed out at HT. I assume as a precautionary measure, hopefully nothing serious.

Noa Lang continuing his hot form. Bagged another goal today - so that's 4 goals in past 3 matches.

Joint topscorer for Club Brugge.... 8 goals in all competitions (along with 3 assists). The other topscorer played almost twice as many minutes as Lang did.

  5. A hundred Weghorst duels in Germany: only Lewandowksi and Werner are more lethal

    Danny Wendt 18-01-21, 17:20 Laatste update: 17:34

    FC Emmen (2012/13) - 5 goals
    FC Emmen (2013/14) - 6
    Heracles (2014/15) - 5
    Heracles (2015/16) - 6
    AZ (2016/17) - 10
    AZ (2017/18) - 8
    Wolfsburg (2018/19) - 6
    Wolfsburg (2019/20) - 7
    Wolfsburg (2020/21) - 11

Weghorst scored again today... his 12th in the league (second top goalgetter in Bundesliga, after Lewandowski).

Luuk de Jong is doing his part to keep Sevilla’s bench warm and cozy. Halftime break at the time of writing

That En-Nesyri guy is on fire. I think it’s safe to say that LdJ has definitely lost his starting spot at Sevilla and with that, hopefully, his selection for Oranje.

If we do feel the need to select a big out and out striker for a potential last-gasp tactic at the EC than Weghorst is the way to go.

Also, the last couple of Ajax games have shown that Promes also needs to make space for someone else. He’s been horrid.

El-Ghazi scores 5 goals in 6 matches, but has now apparently lost his starting spot for some reason.

    Somebody please explain that one

Barkely has returned from injury in the middle shifting grealish to left. Dont think EL ghazi will get the nod over him (JG) and plus traore on the right looks to be better than El Ghazi who was ineffective there vs city.

No goals from Noa Lang in past couple matches. Unacceptable

    :p:D

Did assist twice today. So that brings his tally to 8 goals and 5 assists so far this season.

Too soon to predict his call up to Oranje Senior?

  12. I mentioned in the Ajax thread that the AR mistake for giving Boadu off side when he broke away towards the goal could have been caused by his insane acceleration.
Today against Feyenoord heagain showed that ability several times.
Boadu is several levels above wannabees like Traoré and Brobby.

... and anyone currently playing for Feyenoord. Don't know why you mention Traore as he is not eligible for the Dutch NT.

  14. Well, when he plays another few years here he will be eligable for a passport.

  15. True, but that's known for about two seasons now.

A long-awaited breakout game from Boadu... he was sharp and clinical. He’s the kind of player who thrives on big match. Hopefully a string of goals will follow after today. Oh.. partnership with Stengs is blossoming fast. Really good news for Oranje and FdB.

My only complaint is that Koopmeiners should have allowed Boadu to complete his hattrick via the PK. That would be an even massive morale boost!

He is already capped by Burkino Faso

  18. At that age? He still has the chance to change his mind?

I watched that game . It was the battle of the top 2 and with the win club brugge has opened a 12 points gap on top and only all hell break loose will keep them from winning the title again this seasom.

Its an under statment to say especially if u didnt watch the game that its unacceptable that he didnt score. If the stats were avaliable it woud have shown the true picture otherwise he was easily the man of the match and I wont be suprised if he again scoops the player of the month twice in row for this month.

Specifically looking from his performance its again an understatement to say its too soon for him to be called up for NT. A good justification here would to that of Groeneveld who was called up by koeman and who also came under spot light just into his first season at club brugge and keeping in mind he joined from NEC. It a pity that his transfer to Bournemouth has turned out to be step backwards otherwise he did expectionally well vs belgium at the time playing out of brugge. The situation is almost the same for Lang now. goals, assists, headlines etc. Again you have to ask this question or take into consideration, is it worth investing in him instead of babel, berghuis and promes or not.

Coming back to his performance, if I have to compare him to one player than it would be stengs but in his case he is more explosive and has better pace than stengs. He also pops up everywhere, right , left, centre, back, front and is always running to come into play. This is how he plays and with the ball at his feet he can and has been decsive in scoring and assisting so far.

With his qualities I think he should be called up and can be a good impact player off the bench for now.
Its also baffling how Ten hag was quick to write him off and said he doesnt fit in his plan when he in short span of time and at 20 is already taking the centre stage at brugge.

I must admit though looking at his performance he will always nullify the AM operating in the middle and perhaps this is one reason why he was overlooked by Ten hag. This is very similar to stengs and de wit at AZ where stengs always takes the spot light when it should de wit as well operating from the middle.

I think you have said this the second time and again you can use the Groeveneld argument here as well and plus club brugge did well this season in CL which also featured noa lang. I goal and 1 assist there for him and plus they are also active in europe league which again should be enough for him to get the call up if he continues on the current trajectory till the end of the season.

  22. A certain Brugge fan on BS I know is very happy with Lang and Dost.
How many Dutch are on the pitch for Brugge? Quite alot I guess.

I personally found it refreshing to have a new face competing for a spot in Oranje NT, because the attacking options are quite thin as of late. Just as I wrote in the case for El Ghazi a while ago (last month), the key for Noa Lang is to maintain his form until the next selection cycle (March). If he stays focused, I think has a fairly decent chance to get invited. Even if it is in the provisional squad (good confidence boost for him!)

This is my updated pecking order with some notable comments....

    - Weghorst is sizzling hot
    - Gakpo has unfortunately been slowed down by injuries. Only a handful of minutes since the New Year, with one assist to show.
    - Is Boadu turning a corner, yet?
    - Stengs has been exclusively playing as an AM... he may fall out of the "forward" list completely

    Memphis
    Malen
    Stengs
    Berghuis
A pinchitter CF (Weghorst >>> Luuk de Jong)
    Boadu
    Bergwijn
Babel (FdB will always find a spot for him o_O)
    Lang
    Gakpo

*Everybody else fighting minutes at their respective clubs.... Promes, Kluivert, El-Ghazi, Dilrosun, Danjuma, etc.
