So what ended up happening with Lisa DeVanna? I've been out of the loop lately and I noticed at the playoffs yesterday, she was nowhere to be found. I had this memory that she was playing for the Washington Spirit but maybe I got mixed up.
Parsons decided she won't travel with the team to Seattle for unknown reasons. He said: " She has made a huge impact for us since coming here and we’re grateful for that. I’ve decided that she won’t be traveling this weekend. Unfortunately we made a decision that we won’t include her. Those reasons are us making the best decision for the team, for this game, and for the rest of the playoffs.”
It was the right move IMO. Parsons decided his team would have a better chance at success without a toxic personality like LDV around. Now whether or not she would have made a difference for them yesterday is debatable, but their problem wasn't lack of chances, it was putting those chances away, something she hasn't done consistently ever.
I don't know, I just feel like DeVanna would have made a difference JMO. I didn't know a coach could deny a professional athlete an opportunity to do their job on the field because they don't get along with the "Pink Princess Click" or whatever schoolyard drama it is.
I think it was a tad more than that. Either way, I thought the Spirit played better than they had played all season including when DeVanna played.
When someone has major issues with teammates on multiple occasions with multiple teams, you have to wonder if it might not be the teammates.
Lohman is coming back to DC. Interesting the Spirit picked up Williams as well, since I thought we were pretty well set with Harris and Jonesy.
For a period, yes, but she hasn't been on their official roster page for a while now. She played for the Spirit Reserves mostly. Still makes her part of the organization, I guess.
Yeah, I was just thinking about if/when Harris is away for the WWC, they'll have Gay for backup like last season. I would expect Williams would be away for it as well, if she is recovered.
She traveled as part of the team for the August 9 Seattle match, when Harris was doubtful with a concussion.
Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, but D-Math went down with a knee injury in the first of the two CAN-JPN friendlies. If it's ACL she could be out for the WWC and the NWSL season.
Matheson is one of the few Canadian players I actually root for so hopefully the injury isnt serious but if it is the worst maybe Canadian fans will take note that it happened at one of the Canada 2015 venues.
I hope for the sake of the Spirit that Matheson is able to play next season. They may not be my favorite team, that being the Flash, but I have no ill will towards them and wouldn't wish injury on any player. I also hope that they do not attempt to re-sign De Vanna. While she's very talented, she's just too much of a hothead. She just got a 2 match suspension in Oz for an incident involving one of her teammates, who got a 1 game suspension as well.
Yeah, I hope for everyone involved that D-Math is OK. As for DeVanna, it is still early in preseason for Parsons to cut ties with her and start looking for another offensive option. No one needs a toxic personality in the locker room
I just wish she'd get her act together for once. I'm not surprised she can't stay with one club for long. Her talent is amazing, but her personality is less than ideal at the best of times, and downright poisonous at the worst. On a Matildas tangent, I think they'd be better off without her. Given the number of attacking options already fighting for spots on that squad, cutting her loose would be one less headache for Staj to deal with.

i said two years ago she'd be injury prone given her style of play and she isn't as durable and thickly built as sydney. add dunn to the short because she keeps running out of her shoes and jacking up her feet.
