what a pus sy, we can play 2-3 more years... i guess he has enough money saved for the rest of his llife
Frankly, it's about time. Injuries and years have made him slow and cautious. While he can still score on unsuspecting defenders, he's no longer a match for younger, faster players. Good luck to him and thanks for all he did for CRNT.
Wanchope was clearly at the end of his career with the Chicago Fire. I saw a lot of his games and you could tell he just didnt have any gas left in the tank. But im still thankful for everything he did for our national team and helping putting Costa Rica on the soccer map. Even when he was scoring a lot of goals in England he never denied our national team and always came to play no matter who we played against. You could always tell he had a lot of passion and always wanted to help our soccer grow. From his first international goal against USA in the 1998 qualifiers til his last goal with Chicago Fire against Columbus Fire i thank Wanchope for everything he did for us. I hope he becomes some type of coach for our youth teams or gets involved with the Fedefut because im sure with his experience he can help us get better unlike the people that are involved with our federation right now who only care about money .
amazing player during his prime and always a big threat to score in concacaf matchups. sad to see it end for him. he will be hard for costa rica to replace.
Wanchope was world class, but his "butter knees" didn´t help him. At the end of his career he didn´t run, didn´t score, did nothing. It was the right time to retire. I still remember the 2 goals he scored against Germany. I hope CR could get soon a player of his caliber soon, because I don´t see anyone coming from behind.
I thought it was about time. Wanchope did put CR on the map. great guy all around. Always used to go to my wife's high school to visit his aunt. Always brought gifts to the students.
in your ********ing dreams , everyone knows its all Honduras.... soo take your over rated stars else where and stop assuming Marvin Avila is destined to greatness because hes not, he'll end up a local player forever.
Sorry guys...but we'll still end up qualifyin...even if its as the 4th spot My prediction is USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Honduras.
What's up he wasn't happy in the MLS? He did a pretty good job with the Fire and could play a couple of more seasons.
Costa rica lost 1-0 against Sweden in Wanchope's Final game http://www.laprensahn.com/ediciones/2008/01/14/el_infortunio_de_rambo
wanted to express my admiration for the big fella before the honduras-guatemala pissing contest begins. fuerza Chope!
Wanchope will be missed! Its sad he has to retire so young, especially since we don't have one single foward like him. CHOPE!! CHOPE!! CHOPE!!
He was a good player, I saw him on TV last year a lot and he looked slow...so slow. Great player who will be missed.
I hated Wanchope so much as a kid for always single handedly destroying Guate's WC contentions but always respected him. He was a man among boys here in Central America. Truly a great player.
