    Re: W-League Playoffs

Here's what I could glean from the W-League website:

East quarterfinals (Wednesday; winners advance to final four at Ottawa (qualified as hosts) this weekend):
    Vermont at Toronto
    NY Magic at Boston
    Western Mass at Long Island

    Central Semifinals (Saturday-Sunday at Cincinnati)
    Charlotte vs. Cleveland
    Central Florida vs. Detroit

    West Final (Saturday)
    Arizona at Vancouver

The Wildcats have an automatic spot in the W-League Championship semis as the hosts of the event.

    Re: W-League Playoffs

Just a year or two ago a Boston, Toronto, Long Island and Ottawa final four would have been a dream playoff for the W-League.

If I were a betting cat, look for Ottawa, Vancouver and Central Florida to meet up with NJ from the final four. And because of Ottawa's win over NJ last weekend, that would most likely give a Ottawa (1) vs. C. Fla (4) matchup and a NJ (2) vs Vancouver (3). NJ/Vancouver as a semi-final matchup is what most people picked as the final at the beginning of the year.

My Bet is on the Krush being there, they, too, have suffered from USWNTitis, and are now getting over it.

    2. New Jersey (13-1, +55 goal diff)
    3. Vancouver (13-1, +43)
    4. Charlotte (11-2-1)
    5. Toronto (11-3, +28)
    6. Detroit (11-3, +25)
    7. Central Florida (11-3, +19)
    8. Arizona (10-3-1)
    9. Boston (9-5, +20)

The Central conference final four game times have been announced.

Central Florida (with Mitts and Fotop confirmed to be there) will play Detroit in the first game (5:30PM local, 6:30 Eastern), and the Charlotte-Cleveland game will follow at 8 local, 9 Eastern. The conference championship will be Sunday at 6PM local, 7PM Eastern. Tickets are $10/day, $15 weekend, $35 family weekend pass.

A side note: the Arizona-Vancouver West final will kick off at 10PM Eastern in Vancouver.

Charge, I think you are right on the seedings, but you never know with the W-League. Sometimes it seems they make up the rules as they go to get the best matchups.

Has there been a block of seasons where the play-off format has been the same?

    Thanks for the update.

I'm hoping Ottawa wins to set up an all Canadian game tomorrow.

Fotopolous had a hat trick in the first game, w/2 goals from penalties (!!).

Amber Allen's hat trick was the straw that stirred the drink for Vancouver, who punched their ticket to Mercerville, NJ with a 4-0 waxing of Arizona to win the West final.

    Re: W-League Playoffs

So here's how it'll play out today (times eastern daylight):

Toronto-Ottawa will be at 2PM. Ottawa won both games this year (5-0, June 29 at Keith Harris and 3-1 @ Toronto 2 weeks ago today). If Ottawa wins, as expected, the Wildcats *likely will* play Vancouver next Saturday night no matter who the Central winner is, as they should face the Fury in the other semi.

Central Florida-Charlotte will be at 7PM. The teams split their season series, each winning at home (3-2 CF on May 21 and 2-1 CHA a week ago yesterday - asterisk city on that one, perhaps, as CF had neither Mitts nor Fotop due to NT duty).

The less likely outcomes, should Ottawa be upset today:
NJ, Vancouver, Charlotte, Toronto (NJ-TOR, VAN-CHA)
NJ, Vancouver, CF, Toronto (NJ-CF, VAN-TOR)

So NJ-Vancouver will be the second game next Friday (7:30PM) as Ottawa meets the Central winner at 5PM that day. Not unexpected.

Go CF! We wanna see Mitts and Fotop in our neck of the woods next weekend! :D

Ottawa dominated much of the play this afternoon. Toronto only had one good chance, late in the game (hit the crossbar on a 20 yard shot).
