Tomorrow's time trial will not count towards GC after riders complained about the course. Apparently its dirt, rubber, sand, etc. It will count for the team competition and some team will "win" the stage.
This figures to be a strange Vuelta as all the guys that you'd assume we're favorites rode the Tour. I wonder how much Quintana, Froome and Valverde have left in the tank. Perhaps Quintana, who seemed to get stronger towards the end of the Tour will beat Froome, who seemed to get weaker in the same time period. Perhaps Piti will challenge for the victory at home. Or maybe Tejay will have a bit more left in his legs after abandoning the Tour. Will Dombrowski carry his good form over from Utah? Los of intriguing story lines. I'm going to be following this Vuelta more closely than most.
By the way, this video gave me lots of chuckles when I watched it. That's one hell of a sticky bottle!
We'll see if Froome can limit his losses enough to be in contention by the time trial. That's going to be tough. I'm hoping someone like Chaves or Aru can win this. It would be nice to see some new riders try to step up and join the heads of state. Although, having said that, I'd love to see Quintana put the hammer down in the high mountains too.
