Frak. I guess it was hoping against hope that West Ham would make the drop. Always next year, I guess.

Big win for Watford today. Villa and Bournemouth now with one foot solidly in the Championship.

Yeah, I like him too. Seems very unassuming, humble, and always seemingly poised to break through to another level. Also a beast of a body!

No surprise that Norwich go down first. Farke didn't look much upset at FT. Either he resigned himself long ago and he's glad it's finally over, or perhaps he knows he won't be with the club much longer? Either way he could be having a bit of relief. That said, I don't really know him much and I"m famous for (over-?)interpreting body language. ;)

God that early clinch by Pool really affected them more than I woulda expected.

They are literally hanging on for dear life at Anfield against Burnley.

Into 4 mins of stoppage time, and after the almost conceding the game winner twice in recent mins, they probably would settle for a draw, and give up on one of the many records they hoped to keep (home wins for an entire season).

The air seems to be coming out of their balloon.

Edit: FT 1-1. And Klopp somewhat uncharacteristically has a go at Mike Oliver for something. Obviously he really wanted that win and that home wins record.

Is there a more schizophrenic club than Chelsea? They are getting completely handled by Sheffield Untd Midway through 2T. It that's the result, it certainly doesn't help us to move up in the standings.

At least with Liverpool's dropffoff/slump we are hitting them at their lowest form of the season on Wednesday.

Agree about Chelsea. They're lucky they're only losing 3-0. And it puts our recent tight win against SUFC in a more favorable light perhaps.

Disagree about Liverpool. I'd rather not face them after they just got embarrassed and will be out to prove something. I'd rather they'd won 5-0 today and feeling smug when they meet us.

That’s why they’re going to buy Havertz.

Chelsea are winning the league next year.

They have to replace Kepa, for sure, but if they’re trotting out Kante-Kovacic-Havertz in midfield and Pulisic-Werner-whoever up front, they’re going to absolutely dominate most encounters. They could play me on the right and be fine. The defense won’t get exposed often enough to matter.

Meanwhile, Walker completely runs over a guy in the box and it’s waived off as ‘shoulder to shoulder’ (I guess?).

If it were against Arsenal, I’d 100% want a penalty, and if it was an Arsenal player with the challenge, I’d 100% expect a penalty to be given.

I’m so sick of this shit.

    .

Aren’t they also rumored to be in for Sancho? Where are they squeezing in Ziyech? Not to mention their legion of young players, some of whom are going to get very restless.

One crazy stat I just saw from the Sheffield Utd v. Chelsea match yesterday: Sheffield only had 24% of possession, but won convincingly. They say it's the lowest % possession in a win by 3 or more goals since they started tracking% possession stats in 2003-2004.

Just goes to show that some stats can be seriously misleading, especially when your focus is too narrow.

United have had more penalties this season than Arsenal have had in the last six. Fun fact: Arsenal have outscored United by more than fifty goals in that time.

Jitters has a point - this is Calciopolli-esque.

Other results have generally not gone our way this weekend, BUT right now on the South Coast some interesting things are going on.

Leicester has given up 2 goals, lost a CB due to stupidity and may be throwing 3pts to Eddie Howe's side.

Edit: it's now up to 4-1... game set match. HOWEVER I now realize that even if we win our last 3 and LC lose their last 3 (both very unlikely in their own right, let alone combined) we still can't really catch them up because their GD is like +29 and our is like +7. But I'm still happy for Howe... maybe just maybe they can avoid the drop??

p.s. This thread is amazing. It's >5 years old. Is closing in on 1000 pages and 25,000 posts. Might as well just keep going and see whether there are any system limits that we'll end up flirting with. :whistling:
