That'll take you to the main site. It's all in Finnish though and not too many people speak it! Just navigate through all of it and you'll get a feel for it.

Personally, I support HJK and FC Haka. I am just now following Tampere United.

As a Scandinav i I feel thats It's my obligation to follow the Finnish League also, but I might think that the Veikkausleague suffers from my point of view lack of history. Not the league itself but the clubs. Many of the finish clubs have merged several times or changed names several times, therefore its a bit difficult to follow.

Finland and Belgium must have world records in club mergers, but Finland must share the record for name changes with Austria.

Thats not good for the league integrity.

It also seems odd for me that except HJK virtually no Finnish team are able to sustain top status for more than 7-8 seasons a time, a well balanced league need a couple of top clubs.

I also would think that if the Finnish league has to grow FC Haka has to die. It's Just like the Danish Herfolge that got Promoted back in the Superleague. They plays in a little village and that year they become champions there average gates were under 3000, thats the average gates for the team with the second lowest gates when they play for relegation. With the size of the Village FC Haka plays in it's not good future of the league.

Although one thing I am very impressed about the finnish league is that they are very good to get Brazillian players on contract that gives the league a very latin flavour that the Superligaen, Allsvenskan and Tippeligaen lacks of.

As a matter of fact, I lived in Valkeakoski...well, right next door. The sheer fact that it exists is because UPM founded it. It has older players, but the youth system is decent.

Thanks for your reply. It's very educated.

So that explains your interest in FC Haka. Out of curiosity, how did you end up following HJK and now Tampere U?

Tampere, is a city that I lived near. I was right in the middle of Tampere and Valkeakoski. Having no local team, I decided to follow the two. It was easy.

As for HJK, I was support the first team that I hear of. HJK was the first Finnish team I heard of, so I followed them.

I'm not into any of the rivalries, I just like attractive football.

That's where I disagree with my Finnish brothers. I believe that Brazil isn't the answer to the World's soccer famine.

    Jazz vs Helsinki

Tonite's game is a tricky one. Jazz back to winning ways, on a 2 winning streak, while Helsinki is on a 3 games non-winning streak.

Helsinki just played 0-0 Glentoran 3 days ago, and return leg 4 days later. Will they be resting anybody? Normal circumstances Helsinki should win, but today Jazz seems pumped up.

Anybody has infor on the lineup? Thanks!

    Jazz??

    Hi brother urtel,

What do you think of this match? Jazz has not won against Helsinki at HOME since 1999, and Helsinki is resting Zeneli.

Do you think Jazz can at least get a draw here? Junnila is on fire now.

    Thanks!

No matter where you look, HJK will always be the favored team in Veikkausliiga, with few exceptions. And streaks really don't mean anything. But, if HJK has a morale problem, which I don't think there is, they can at least draw and make people playing the lottery rich.

    Prediction: 0:0

    Jazz 2:6 HJK

can't believe Helsinki run riot on Jazz. Jazz scored first, and one stage was 2-2, HT 2-3. I thought it will be close, but HJK turn full blast in 2nd half.

Looks like their goal drought is over, and I believe they'll win comfortably against Glentoran.

Good Luck to them next week

Poissa means "gone, away" in Finnish.

Adriano was sick, and did not play.

    Haka blasted Allianssi 3:nil

I'm from Singapore. I support Liverpool - and the captain is Sami Hyypia who used to play for MyPa Anjalankoski, and it's there I got to know more Finnish clubs. Another great player is who else but Jari Litmanen!

There are a few other Finnish players in EPL: Mikael Forssell, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Jonatan Johansson, Peter Enckelman, etc.

Great win for Helsinki last night, 2-0 over FC Lahti :)

For tonight's game, what do you think about TPS Turku vs MyPa? MyPa has been playing very badly recently, really shocking! What is the lineup?

    TPS Turku: MyPa47

    LINE 'EM UP:

TPS: Tuomala, Uotila, Harju, Leino, Virkki, Harittu, Heinikangas, Helin, Auremaa, Casagrande, Kotamäki.

    Unavailable: Hyyrynen.

MyPa: Korhonen, Taipale, Aho, Timoska, Huttunen, Lindberg, Manso, Okkonen, Botha, Puhakainen, Antonio.

    Unavailable: Könönen.

Coming into tonight's match, newly promoted TPS is the underdog. But with recent form of both teams, this can prove to be one of the better matches of the month.

A little known fact: Aston Villa, of the English Premier League, has a direct partnership with TPS Turku.

I see TPS Turku upsetting MyPa. 1:0
