So what do you think of it, and who are the likely ones to miss out? Who do you think should be in there but is not?

Goalkeeper: Patrick Lodewijks (Feyenoord), Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax) en Henk Timmer (AZ).

Defense: Khalid Boulahrouz (HSV), Wilfred Bouma (Aston Villa), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Barcelona), Tim de Cler (AZ), Urby Emanuelson (Ajax), Kew Jaliens (AZ), Jan Kromkamp (Liverpool), Joris Mathijsen (AZ), André Ooijer (PSV), Barry Opdam (AZ) en Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord).

Midfield: George Boateng (Middlesbrough), Mark van Bommel (Barcelona), Phillip Cocu (PSV), Edgar Davids (Tottenham Hotspur), Nigel de Jong (HSV), Denny Landzaat (AZ), Hedwiges Maduro (Ajax), Wesley Sneijder (Ajax) en Rafael van der Vaart (HSV).

Attack: Ryan Babel (Ajax), Romeo Castelen (Feyenoord), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax), Dirk Kuyt (Feyenoord), Martijn Meerdink (AZ), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Manchester United), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Arjen Robben (Chelsea) en Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (PSV).

I think the following people won't make it:
Lodewijks, Babel, Meerdink, Boateng, Bouma, Jaliens, Vlaar, De Jong, Emanuelson and Castelen.

No obvious omissions that I can see.

    My picks

Goalkeeper: Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax) en Henk Timmer (AZ).

Defense: Khalid Boulahrouz (HSV), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Barcelona), Urby Emanuelson (Ajax), Jan Kromkamp (Liverpool), Joris Mathijsen (AZ), André Ooijer (PSV), Barry Opdam (AZ)

Midfield: Mark van Bommel (Barcelona), Phillip Cocu (PSV), Edgar Davids (Tottenham Hotspur), Denny Landzaat (AZ), Hedwiges Maduro (Ajax), Wesley Sneijder (Ajax) en Rafael van der Vaart (HSV).

Attack: Romeo Castelen (Feyenoord), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax), Dirk Kuyt (Feyenoord), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Manchester United), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Arjen Robben (Chelsea)

    I would drop:

Lodewijks, Bouma, de Cler, Kew Jaliens, Vlaar

    Boateng, de Jong

    Babel, Meerdink, Venegoor of Hesselink

And by all you mean one out of three? Vlaar will have a hard time making the squad, let alone start. Please, if you know nothing about the current state of Dutch football, don't make assumptions that someone will start 'for sure'

Next thing you know you'll mention Seedorf or, dare I say it...Andy van der Meyde

yeah, he will be going... directly to the U21 side

barring a wild rash of injuries, of course

You also have van Persie and Huntelaar who both are playing a lot better than Makaay...

Hey I like Makaay - quality club striker, seems like a good guy - but Holland have better striking options than him at the moment

Van Basten wants a balanced squad and Makaay doesn't fit in. End of. By ''playing Makaay means they will score more goals', are you implying that the more strikers you play, the more goals you score? Hell why not play 11 strikers if that's the case!

Maduro joins Hamburg pair in Holland sicklist

AMSTERDAM, April 24 (Reuters) - Dutch international midfielder Hedwiges Maduro will be sidelined for two to four weeks, his club Ajax Amsterdam said on Monday.

Maduro, named last week in Marco van Basten's provisional 33-man squad for the World Cup finals, sustained an ankle injury during Ajax's 4-2 win over Feyenoord on Sunday.

Fellow squad midfielders Rafael van der Vaart (ankle) and Nigel de Jong (knee) will have surgery this week, their club SV Hamburg said.

Yikes!! Will Raffie be fit for the WC?

Good - that's first I'd heard of surgery though. Did they mean for de Jong only?

Looks like vbasten read my posts on this board (jk), and he most likely will bring Huntelaar to the WC this summer:

Thats good news cause I think Klaas is the best man for backup striker role

not sure about van der Meyde but Seedor is having a good season so calm that one down. i think he should've been included in the provisional squad at least. he's been pretty solid for arguably the best team in europe.

Outside of Holland most people rate Seedorf highly, but within Holland he is hated, and not respected so save youself from making anymore comments on this subject or you will surely face a severe backlash from our Dutch friends.

    Let the hate begin!

Richie boy, noone outside of Holland has ever rated Seedorf highly except the Suranimese.

Seedorf will never play in our NT unless he starts performing, which he hasnt done and which he refuses to do, at least for our national team!!

So unless you wanna pit the Dutch against our Colonies, perhaps you should give this thing a rest!!!
