If you feel triggered by the term 'fat man', I'd surmise it to be a 'you' problem'... Calling Custis 'fat man is an obvious reference of what van Gaal him a few years back, nothing more And finally, not sure what the issue with having backed. Anthony Martial. He is, as a matter of fact, an extremely talented player, with valid reason to believe he could make it big with us. There is a reason he was (is?) so beloved by many in the fanbase. We can argue about why things haven't worked out for him in the end but it's probably not wide off the mark to suggest that it's bad luck (circumstances over the years and injuries), which led to some kind of mental block and therefore the need for something new, away from Manchester United. With new information, we reassess and since at this point it appears unlikely that he'll be able to win a starting place with the team, it's best for all parties if he moves on to a club where hopefully he can still be in a position to fulfill his potential. There is nothing to cry about, it's just one of those of things. And yes, if we can find a buyer and get a reasonable fee for him, it will be good for the club, along with ditching his large salary. If you were one of the people who foresaw this end for him, then good for you, but there's nothing to boast about either...
There's many clubs that will want to sign Martial. His time at the club has indeed seen him ben unlucky with injuries and also him being played out of position. When he got here he played upfront with a partner and he was looking deadly then LVG moved him out wide (Something I always saw as a mistake). Our systems has played a big part in his productivity as well. Playing him as a solo striker was not it. Yes he holds the ball up well and bring his teammates in but that was a waste of his scoring and dribbling ability, a mistake Ole made. Under Maureen when he was forced to play more defense than offense that wasn't it either. Don't be surprised if he goes a club with a fluent attack and starts banging in goals left and right
🗣 "The player hasn't spoken with me..."Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick says Anthony Martial should talk to him or the board if he wants to leave the club. pic.twitter.com/YApM8WjH7B— Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) December 13, 2021 Really have to hope that the leadership will let Rangnick do his work. He's going to change things at the club for the better from an attitude and behavior point of view (much needed too btw).
Anthony Martial: Manchester United forward keen on Sevilla move ahead of planned talks with Ralf Rangnick | Football News | Sky Sports
Yep, there's an article out with Ralf confirming it. He also says that no clubs have registered interest in him so far, lol. I'm fine with letting him leave, but I can't see how we can until summer. We can have CR7 as our only striker. Cavani is too injury prone to be relied on.
Also, saw an interview where Ralf said that Martial withdrew himself from the Palace game after training with no problems and cited knee pain. Sounds like someone trying to keep themselves healthy before trying to force a move. I've always been a fan of Martials talent, but he's exactly the type of player we need to get rid of at United. He's soft, not up for competition, and inconsistent.
This means absolutely nothing. Clubs may not have contacted the club about him but that does not mean they haven't contacted his agent.
Man United have rejected the loan offer for Anthony Martial from Sevilla. Offer only covered half his wages and club will only consider offers that cover all wages and includes a loan fee. United happy to keep him in January if conditions aren't met.— Rob Dawson (@RobDawsonESPN) December 28, 2021
100% but therein lies the problem also: who will be willing to take on Martial's huge wages, even just on loan, + pay a loan fee on top. Very few clubs probably would be willing to entertain that and chances are they are not interested in Martial at this time at least (Newcastle perhaps being the exception?). Would be happy enough for Martial to stay until the end of the season and see what RR can do with him. But the question still remains: with Martial having made it clear he wants to leave, can he be counted upon to give it his all when his number is called? Easily can go either way, based on what we've seen from him tbh. If he were to be at the club in February and is still intent on leaving at the end of the season, it would be in his best interest to put himself on the shop window, as to attract as much interest as possible (and give himself legitimate options at least).
We need to find permanent solution for him, if he is so eager to leave then he should be prepared to take a pay-cut.
That is what Dawson mentioned earlier that was rejected by United and only rightfully so. Apparently. their budget for January is pretty minimal (under 5mil) and for all intents and purposes can't afford Martial. United's conditions are pretty standard/fair and as stated, not sure which club, Newcastle aside, who will be able to afford anything from the 150 to 200k/wk (Pounds) in wages, on top of a multi million loan fee. PSG might still be an option but not before the end of the season (when Mbappe leaves). A loan would have been a good way to potentially boost his value, but there is nothing that says that can not be done with us, for the next 6mos. United surely will be open to offers but if no club can come with the money to take him off our ends in January, we can only hope that both sides (club and Martial himself) put any differences aside and make the best of things, until the situation can be looked at again in the summer transfer window.
L'Equipe are suggesting that Martial to Sevilla could be close, after they've come to terms with United for a loan until the end of the season, with no option to buy (which is kind of odd/sus). Found that publication to be very much hit or miss when it comes to transfers (RMC or Telefoot are far more trustworthy). We'll see if they've got this one right.
Disgrace … Everyone knows he wants out but he’s still a #mufc employee and he’s paid £200k a week. The lack of professionalism saying he didn’t want to be in the squad is …. Should never play for the club again https://t.co/ujw2m95haa— James Ducker (@TelegraphDucker) January 15, 2022
Says everything about the type of player is he and his mentality. He’s a soft little bitch that wants to be in a team where he’s an automatic starter without having to work hard or be in form. ******** off to a mid table French team. You don’t deserve to wear this jersey. He shouldn’t play for the team again. Also, he shouldn’t be getting paid while he refuses to play. Make him train alone until he ******** off.
Slavery has been abolished many decades now. The guy wants to leave and refuses to play for a damn good reason regardless of his employment at the club. If he goes out and his performances are poor there will be statements like yours. Our coach said when he arrived that he won't use any player who doesn't want to be at the club. Martial did express his desire to leave via his agent then he said it to the coach but here we are today on a witch hunt. Lingard was heavily criticized when he played a few weeks ago and people said "He looks like he doesn't want to be here and he should go." But we want Martial to suit up and sulk on he field. Give the guy his wish and let him go.
Semantics. Ralf is saying Martial didnt want to be in the squad. Martial is saying he didnt refuse to play. Both statements probably technically true - if you refuse to play when actually ordered to, you probably are in breach of contract, disciplinary and fines territory. Ralf has made it clear he wants players who want to play - so unlikely to order him to and include him if he doesnt want to play. Martial clearly doesnt want to play as pi$$ed at club he cant get loan move abroad on full wages with us paying half. His sulky attitude, dour form, poor workrate and £250k wages gonna make this a problem.
Honestly, in my 10 years or so on these boards, this is a top 5 dumbest comment I’ve ever read. So being asked to give 100% and play a game that he’s paid several hundreds of thousands a dollar a week to play is the equivalent of slavery because he’s not the coaches favorite player? Are you ********ing high? Why even bother with contracts then? According to your logic, when a guy doesn’t feel like keeping his side of it he should just be allowed to leave because otherwise it’s slavery. Fooks sake.
Dude I do not care what you think about the sense or lack there of in my statement(s). I really do not care what anyone on here thinks about me let's get that straight. It's a message board and there will be disagreements if people are giving honest opinions and not watered down statements to avoid insulting people who they think are their friends on here. Too many on here are so blinded by their statements and think everything they say is gold.
