I posted the on WHO, god knows what answers I'm going to get, but its a serious question. I'm teaching a high school philosophy class and am about to start a unit on political philosophy. Before plunging the kids into Plato, Augustine, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Marx et al I'd like to leaven the load by showing them a movie. '1984' comes to mind. I dont think there;s been a decent movie made of 'Brave New World'... Any ideas?
Battle Royale may be suitable for your purposes. I can't remember the extent of the violence, but it is japanese, so anything goes...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266308/ the book read a lot like lord of the flies (if lord of the flies was poorly translated from japanese). it was fast paced and exciting. even people who don't like reading enjoyed it.
