I posted the on WHO, god knows what answers I'm going to get, but its a serious question.
I'm teaching a high school philosophy class and am about to start a unit on political philosophy. Before plunging the kids into Plato, Augustine, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Marx et al I'd like to leaven the load by showing them a movie. '1984' comes to mind. I dont think there;s been a decent movie made of 'Brave New World'...

    Any ideas?

Battle Royale may be suitable for your purposes. I can't remember the extent of the violence, but it is japanese, so anything goes...

Japanese eh? Is it perhaps in black and white? That would make High School kids really go for it!

the book read a lot like lord of the flies (if lord of the flies was poorly translated from japanese). it was fast paced and exciting. even people who don't like reading enjoyed it.
