Congratuations to all of the Illinois teams for such a great showing at regionals. 21 teams (14 state cup winners and 7 Midwest Regional bids) made the trip to Sioux Falls, SD to start tournament play on June 25th. Semi-finals begin today. 16 Illinois teams will be represented in the semi-finals with 1 Illinois team in every age group (2 in U15 and U17 boys). Of the 5 teams that made the trip and are out, 4 of them were bracketed with another Illinois team that advanced (only 1 team from each bracket advances) Illinois Boys' teams advancing to the semi-finals include: Chicago Magic U13, U14, U16, U17 Sockers FC U15, U17, U18, U19 Campton Raptors U15 Illinois Girls' teams advancing to the semi-finals include: Sockers FC U15, U19 Eclipse U16, U17, U18 CIS Knockouts U13 Illinois Premier U14
After the semi finals stage, there are still THIRTEEN IL teams left for the 14 title games being played tomorrow!! What a great showing by the boys and girls from the land of lincoln. IL has one team in 13b, 13g, 14b, 14g, 16b, 16g, 17b, 17g, 18g, 19b, 19g, and BOTH teams in the U15b final!
WOW... That really is damn impressive. Regardless of who the clubs are. All I can say is WOW. I knew we were a powerhouse in region 2, but I didn't know we were like this. cripes!
