US forces a turnover and Press leads the break. She finds Lavelle wide who moves in and finishes with a beautiful goal.

42' 0-1 A routine 3-v-3 break, Press drives up centerline and flicks right outstep pass just-in-time into Lavelle's stride, to box top right. Lavelle does a simple cut inside, left foot shot across mouth with van Veenendaal stranded, floats into left 90. The deeper issue seems to be that we get all these fast break chances, while Netherlands aren't creating much.

43' 0-1 Press gets to box top right, crosses through 7m center and just misses Heath cutting through spot.

44' 0-1 Heath is 10m alone through box top mid-left, shoots right instep to 1/3 left, van Veenendaal blocks ball down, it trickles to 1m center and she dives on it.

45' 0-1 Ln.Williams gets to box top right, sprays a(nother) shot way over bar. What happened to the Dutch in the last 4'?

HT 0-1. We do look rusty from lack of matches, we should have scored on more of those :coffee:

All USA at halftime(1-0)just surprised how the Dutch keep insisting on back passing the ball so much. They’ve backed passed more than they front passed

PLEASE, give Lynn Williams the hook. She's the place all offense goes to die!!!!, Yes she is fast but she messes up almost everything she touches unless you want to count shots well over the top of the net or poor passes. Get somebody else in .... Please!!!

Rich fantasies flowing freely around here [emoji16]. Okvist has a boyfriend, she's probably a flatmate of Groenen...

Good to see the Dutch exposed in this match, but then again meaningless matches have never brought out the best in Dutch NT's (not that they're not putting in some effort).

46' 0-1 USA subs in (1 of ... 6?) #13 Alex Morgan for #23 Christen Press. Morgan's 1st cap since ... the 2019 WWC final vs. the Netherlands.

    61' 0-1 USA subs in (2 of 6) #22 Kristie Mewis for #16 Rose Lavelle. Kristie's 1st cap since 2014

67' 0-1 Netherlands subs in (1 of 6) #7 Shanice van de Sanden for #21 Lineth Beerensteyn. van de Sanden vs. Dunn on our left, this should be fun.

Dutch need to bring on vd Sanden... Martens lacks that extra bit of pace.

Lavelle is coming out so there are now Mewii on the field. Is that the proper plural of Mewis?

That was a great ball from Williams to Mewis for her to run onto that and score.

Wow. Seven years since her last goal. I hadn't realized it had been quite that long.

70' 0-2 Naeher fk to circle top left, Morgan glances a back-header to 25m arc left. Ln.Williams, facing ball, does a one-touch left instep half-volley perfectly through Netherlands' high line, into K.Mewis's stride through box top mid-left, alone to 8m 6-left. K.Mewis shoots left instep low across mouth, under van Veenendaal's gloves, into back right low.

    75' 0-2 USA subs in:
    - (3 of 6) #2 Emily Sonnet for #19 Crystal Dunn
    - (4 of 6) #11 Sophia Smith for #17 Tobin Heath
    - (5 of 6) #14 Margaret Purce for #5 Kelley O'Hara. Our team age just took a nosedive

What would it matter? The Dutch keep on playing the ball from the back even though their going against the best high pressing team in the world. Not once we’ve seen an long high ball lobbied over that press

89' 0-2 USA subs in (6 of 6) #26 Jaelin Howell for #3 Samantha Mewis. Vlatko had six subs and six on the bench, one for each :)

90' 0-2 Purce passes to Ln.Williams at 25m mid-right, Morgan is a shoetip offside up centerline between the CBs. Ln.Williams again faces ball and does a one-touch left instep half-volley to spot. Morgan taps into stride and chases to 6-top right post, van Veenendaal dives at it, Morgan beats her to it with left instep flick mini-lob, it rolls past and in. Offside, even the AR is smiling sheepishly. Replay shows Morgan was offside by about a shoe-length. +3'? From where?
