Fixed your post And by the way, we should all hook up at the Power Plant in Parkville. That's where I used to go to drink away anything I learned in class.
I was going to stay out of this stupid state war and keep it soccer specific. But, since you want to call people who've only driven past hog farms (in both state mind you) on their way to Chicago, Twin Cities, KC, St. Louis, etc, pig farmers and accuse us of things, let me pull out some recent history. There was a bill pushed to the state senate of Missouri in 1999 banning beastiality. I can't find whether or not that bill was passed into law. It must be a problem down there. Here's a website to validate my claim: <http://sites.cdoc.net/dogwood/hidden/Current%20Animal%20Legislation.htm> Yes, Iowa and Missouri both have farms and farm animals. We both have rednecks. And By golly, we both have city folk, ma! Kansas does too. Mizzou is roughly twice as long as Iowa and Branson is the clean casino-less Las Vegas. Now, that we know this, let's drop the stupid state insults and talk soccer!!!!
I am trying to plan my trip down south to KC and hopefully you Wizard fans can help a guy out. Does anyone know if there is a place to tailgate, enjoy a couple brews before the match?? If not where is everyone planning to go before?? I wouldn't mind taking in a few brews with some KC fans. Also, is there any good drinking holes for after the game?? I am trying to choose a hotel in the area. I know Westport is always money, but any other areas to check out afterwards?? I am also trying to find a nice golf course to play at on Wednesday morning. I have found Paradise Pointe that looks to be very nice. Any comments on a local course that could be an option. Sorta off soccer topic, but it's all relevant I suppose. I imagine this thread will be flying again after the weekend. Could possibly be the last Menace game of the season. Hopefully not, but could be. Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
the match is in Parkville, a very small littel city several miles north of Kansas City. close to the college where the game is going to be played is a bar called the Powerplant where there is going to be some pre and post game activities. there is a flyer i got emailed today - but since i at home now and cant access my work inbox i cant post it. little help here, guys?
The US Open Cup website has the game being played in Overland Park, KS. http://www.usopencup.com/fourthround/index_E.html

They took our idea for the Power Plant as the pregame festivities. Oh well, it's not really as if there's other places in Parkville to party anyway.
rumor has it that the wizards are starting most of their first 11. and this rumor comes from a very reliable source that just happens to be a wizards executive. Thats trouble.....
You're surprised the Wizards stole an idea??? That's pretty much been par for the course the last few years.
Just out of curiosity, What number is this that folks are calling to get tickets in advance? I'd hate to sneak out of work early (on the day of a trial, no less) only to get turned away.
I wouldn't be surprised. They put out a squad consisting mostly of regular starters against Atlanta last year. I think they will once again take this competition very seriously.
From jdoppel's post one page back U.S. Open Cup 4th Round Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005 Kick-Off 7:00 p.m. Park University – Julian Field 8700 NW River Park Drive, Parkville, MO 64152 (Hwy 9 & 6th Street – on the west side of campus) All Seats General Admission: Adults $ 10; Youth (ages 15 & under) $5 Purchase Tickets to be placed at Will Call in Advance (816) 920-9300, or buy tickets the night of the game at Julian Field
Just to let you know, here is the back line we feel we will need against you. Back Line Bring your first 11, these kids are mean! BTW, we'll be there too. Red Army
Hmm, well, here's the back line we think we'll need http://www.ibiblio.org/footy/2004/1030_kc_sj_ajm/web_ajm_5882.jpg Oh..and we'll be there too... http://www.ibiblio.org/footy/2004/1030_kc_sj_ajm/web_ajm_5869.jpg http://www.ibiblio.org/footy/2004/1105_kc_la_wj/kc_la_384.jpg By the way, in your pic, is the "army" still on the bus? See ya next Wed. Cheers.
All banner, no people. In Australia, they put a banner out front for the team to run through to open the game. Then they throw the banner away. Enjoy your drive home.
Quite honestly, our drive home will be great. Regardless of the outcome. All banter aside, look at it from this perspective........ Great season regular season (aside from a couple of stupid letdowns), great run in the USOC where we get to play the pros in a match where we are taken seriously, we atleast get to play in the semis for our league, and the club is ALREADY $10,000 richer. Win or lose on Wednesday, I'd say that we are still two games away from our real goal of PDL Champions. All this other stuff is gravy! And, another perspective that Wizards fans should see is that your staff has an opportunity to take a look at a very good group of up-and-coming players first hand to see how they match up. Potentially some of our guys could very well end up people you are praising before this thing is over. So, again-- it is absolutely a WIN-WIN for both squads. Ok, banter filter off..............on a different note the back line you have posted is a great improvement over the one you fielded on April 23 vs. SJ after the 34th minute. Let's see, SJ had 6 shots on goal and 3 goals...... doesn't make for a very good GAA avg? It really was nice of you to give SJ thier first win on the season.
Well put. Win or lose on Wednesday it just caps off a truly remarkable season. 10K richer and more recognition for the players on the team. Hopefully some MLS teams will take a good look at some of our players for their 2005-2006 campaigns. Very much looking forward to the match. Confirmed two buses of fans traveling down, approx. 100 fans. I would venture to bet that you'll see close to 300 Menace fans this Wednesday. Hope and pray for beautiful weather.
Thank you. Wonder how it feels to play against a bunch of young upstarts who don't realize they probably supposed to lose?! Probably a little unnerving? KC and the Menace are absolutely at opposite ends for this one. We have very little, if nothing, to lose-- while KC has possibly everything to lose. Hard to market an MLS team knocked out of the USOC by a group of college students. I think it important to let our KC friends know that those Menace fans WILL be in RED and will be at/near the banner that they made fun of. Please, everyone, I will bring our referee assistance devices again for the trip. For those of you who were not able to partake tonight, it REALLY was fun! Don't know that I can get all 300 though.....can someone else bring some also? It would be greatly appreciated.
