Expanded to add PSL. A-League (D-II) Northeast Rochester Montreal* Toronto* Syracuse (Hamilton*) (Ottawa*) Southeast Charleston Atlanta Virginia Beach Richmond (Ft. Lauderdale) Central Milwaukee Minnesota Northwest (West) Seattle Vancouver* Edmonton* Calgary* Portland (Utah) (El Paso) Pro Soccer League (D-III) Northeast Long Island New Hampshire New Jersey New York Westchester Western Mass East Harrisburg Indiana Northern Virginia Pittsburgh Reading Wilmington West California San Diego (Utah) * Canadian clubs
You've gotta think that with the new MLS team coming to San Diego that they won't have a team. If that happens what do California and Utah do? Will they play each other ten times and fill the rest of the schedule with PDL?
If El Paso is back why are they being lumped back in with the Pacific division? They played in the central division last season.
Oops. good catch on Indy. El Paso's 'being lumped in with the Pacific' because right now this is more about relative geographical location, not divisional alignment. A-League (D-II) Northeast Rochester Montreal* Toronto* Syracuse (Hamilton*) (Ottawa*) Southeast Charleston Atlanta Virginia Beach Richmond (Ft. Lauderdale) Central Milwaukee Minnesota Northwest (West) Seattle Vancouver* Edmonton* Calgary* Portland (Utah) (El Paso) Pro Soccer League (D-III) Northeast Long Island New Hampshire New Jersey New York Westchester Western Mass East Charlotte Harrisburg Northern Virginia Pittsburgh Reading Wilmington West California San Diego (Utah) * Canadian clubs
Re: Re: USL Professional Clubs for 2004 If you ask me, El Paso is regionally closer to the two remaining teams in the Central division than the pacific division, which is why they moved to the central division in the first place.
Pro Soccer in Iowa? Still no mention of the Menace in the A-League. (?) I suppose that's a statement as much as a question. . . .
Tim Holt (Director of the A-League) was on Soccer Fanatics radio last night and he says El Paso is going to the PDL next season along with Indiana. He also mentioned that along with Edmonton, they're working on another new team for next season. It would be a new franchise not anyone coming up from PDL or PSL.
So I guess that Milwaukee and Minnesota will be grouped with the norhtwest teams. So what's the running total for teams in the A-League for next year? By my count it looks like 15 and then if we get the mystery team, 16.

Re: Re: Re: USL Professional Clubs for 2004 It appears Ottawa are in. A-League (D-II) Northeast Rochester Montreal* Ottawa* Toronto* Syracuse (Hamilton*) Southeast Charleston Atlanta Virginia Beach Richmond (Ft. I'm sure this is a real ignoramous question, but why - time permitting - is there not a list for the PDL? Just curious. (I'm probably answering my own question by saying, I guess they're not "professional" clubs, but basically amateur teams. Please confirm, Roger.)
Probably because there are at least 50 PDL teams and its a little early to see where everyone will be....thats my take on it.
While this might be slightly off the subject topic I was thinking. So we have Orlando in 2005 but am I right to think that their might be another team in Florida (rumor of Ft. Lauderdale) in 2004? If thats what I understand. That would possibly give the Southeastern Division six teams in 2005, seven if Charlotte moves back up in a year or two, and could I even speculate eight if Wilmington takes the plung in the next couple years?
Re: Re: Re: Re: USL Professional Clubs for 2004 According to folks on the USL Discussions board, Midland, TX is in too. I know. Don't ask me. A-League (D-II) Northeast Rochester Montreal* Ottawa* Toronto* Syracuse (Hamilton*) Southeast Charleston Atlanta Virginia Beach Richmond (Ft. Lauderdale) Central Milwaukee Minnesota Midland Northwest (West) Seattle Vancouver* Edmonton* Calgary* Portland (Utah) Pro Soccer League (D-III) Northeast Long Island New Hampshire New Jersey New York Westchester Western Mass East Charlotte Harrisburg Northern Virginia Pittsburgh Reading Wilmington West California San Diego (Utah) * Canadian clubs
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: USL Professional Clubs for 2004 It appears Hamilton is now in also. Someone mentioned something to me about Bethlehem, PA at the game Friday but I have no idea how much truth it holds. A-League (D-II) Northeast Rochester Montreal* Ottawa* Toronto* Syracuse Hamilton* Southeast Charleston Atlanta Virginia Beach Richmond (Ft. Lauderdale) Central Milwaukee Minnesota Midland Northwest (West) Seattle Vancouver* Edmonton* Calgary* Portland (Utah) Pro Soccer League (D-III) Northeast Long Island New Hampshire New Jersey New York Westchester Western Mass East Charlotte Harrisburg Northern Virginia Pittsburgh Reading Wilmington West California San Diego (Utah) * Canadian clubs
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: USL Professional Clubs for 2004 Just on its face, I'd sincerely doubt it. The Lehigh Valley has tried a lot of things with pretty much no success. The league got burned once by that region. Are they taht dumb? Wait, don't answer that.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: USL Professional Clubs for 2004 Revised more to what the expected alignment will be. Removed a couple of the possibles as all that will be ironed out in the next week. I guess there still could be a surprise or two. Maybe a few of the Canadian teams will move West to even out the conferences? A-League (D-II) East Atlanta Charleston Hamilton* Montreal* Ottawa* Richmond Rochester Syracuse Toronto* Virginia Beach West Calgary* Edmonton* Milwaukee Minnesota Portland Seattle Texas Vancouver* Pro Soccer League (D-III) Northeast Long Island New Hampshire New Jersey New York Westchester Western Mass East Charlotte Harrisburg Northern Virginia Pittsburgh Reading Wilmington West California San Diego Utah * Canadian clubs
I doubt Ottawa and Hamilton are in. I am certain that no Canadian team from the East would move to the western division. Ontario is not very west.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: USL Professional Clubs for 2004 Puerto Rico. Huh. A-League (D-II) East Atlanta Charleston Montreal* Puerto Rico Richmond Syracuse Toronto* Virginia Beach (Rochester) West Calgary* Edmonton* Milwaukee Minnesota Portland Seattle Vancouver* Pro Soccer League (D-III) Northeast Long Island New Hampshire New Jersey New York Westchester Western Mass East Charlotte Harrisburg Northern Virginia Pittsburgh Reading Wilmington West California San Diego Utah * Canadian clubs
