I was pleasantly surprised at the 17k attendance tonight. I honestly thought there would be a bigger drop off (after some of the "inaugural" game hype wore off).
Hey Kenn , this new and improved Arizona club is certainly doing much better at the gate the the Wolves did last season....have you had a chance to take in a home game yet?
I doubt it'll make a difference, but they will be playing at their new stadium from here on out. It is more accessible, right off I-75. Which means it is more visible. But...I don't imagine it'll change all that much.
Not at all. I'm just trying to be hopeful here. There is major marketing issues there. But, being right off I-75 and having visibility will be nice.
So Los Dos drew 410 last night.... a new low for them, but honestly, doesn't seem like that bad of a number for a "B team" on a Monday..... LAII continues to be the most interesting team to follow attendance wise for me.... just running some numbers... Monday avg: 468 (2 games) Saturday avg: 926 (3 games) Sunday avg: 588 (1 game) Total avg: 717 (6 games) compared to fellow low end draws Charlotte averaging 854 through 3 games and Dayton with averaging 587 per game after 3 games, the Galaxy's numbers really aren't so bad, given the nature of the team and the front loaded home schedule, I'd call it mildly successful so far...
The difference is the Blues are (ostensibly) trying. Sacramento is scheduled to have one more home game at Hughes before moving to Cal Expo, assuming it's ready. That opener there is a month away.
LA2 will be playing the second game (vs OKC) of a doubleheader with the LA Galaxy at the StubHub Center main stadium on May 25.
Yeah, I can see them using the Galaxy attendance as the attendance figure, but real attendance for their own game being precisely dick.
One of Sunday games for LA2 was the same day as a Chivas game and they were charging $15 for parking. As pointed out they have a double header with the Galaxy coming up, and a couple of games in the big stadium on their own. I've spoken with some Galaxy FO about LA2 and they've gone from not really caring about attendance to embracing the team as a stand alone. The say the crowd isn't what they expected, in that they pictured families and blankets. What they're getting is a bunch of hard core supporters who like the free for all atmosphere at the little stadium. My impression is that they want to start marketing to young adults instead of families.
Five games going on at the same time on Saturday night, including the 'long-awaited' () opening of DOC Stadium for Dayton. Fortunately, their match will be the only real drag on the weekend.
