The season starts Saturday 4/11 and the league has said the site will go live prior to kickoff of the games on Saturday. Not sure what time.
The website works right now if you wanna check out... you can watch some highlight packages from last season
Coolest new feature I've found so far (other than FREE) is embedding highlight videos in your own site or blog. Very smart viral marketing by USL!
I am loving that you can embed highlights. Way to go USL, this looks like a quality service so far. The chat feature is really cool too.
It only flickers a bit for me when I use Firefox(as it suggests), but it works fine on Safari. No full screen in either browser though, which is bogus. However I'll live without full screen for a free service.
free is awesome and the chat board for during the games is fun I am so glad to have this available for me
That's the plan long term. I'm sure it will take a while to get it all sorted, so I'd just expect highlights for a while.
Right on! Just found the updated site today. Looks more polished than last year. So it is going to be free, then? If so, that rocks! Time to full-screen the video, feed this to my LCD in my living room, and enjoy Caps and Impact matches all season. Woot!
I don't know if they have done this in the past, but there is a USL-2 match on Saturday being shown on USLlive. Real Maryland v. Bermuda.
Does anyone here have a pub they go to in order to watch games over USL Live? I've been thinking of trying to convince my usual pub, which usually hosts us for FSC matches, to also carry USL Live as it's now free. Has anyone had success trying to do this?
We have about 8-10 pubs in Portland that we've set up for USLlive. Usually 3 per Timbers away match in different parts of the city to accomodate travel. Rogue, and Beulahland are the mainstays that you can ALWAYS watch an away Timbers match. Slabtown is the original though less consistent because of a concert calendar, but many away viewings are held there. There are about 5 or so more than can do it or are being looked into. In other words, TOTALLY worth a shot. Looks like you've got an Islanders friendly pub or a football friendly pub. Just see if they are set up with wifi or high speed. You may have to supply the laptop, you may not (you meaning a fan of the club) depending on the situation. Rogue and Beulahland here for instance I believe both show it willingly with their own equipment including projector screens. Slabtown requires that somebody bring in a laptop.
I just organized this for Cleveland. Our very first away match viewing at a pub will be tomorrow night. We're hoping for a huge turnout because that will make the owner more likely to let us come back. The key is finding the right place with the right owner of course. I'm sure it helps that the place we found is run by an Irishman who is a fan of the game. We do have to supply our own internet connection and laptop, at least for this trial run. The best advice I can give you is that it can't hurt to ask. Make sure you let them know that it's no cost to them and that it will bring in more customers.
We have done it here in Charleston at the Madra Rua on a 42 in LCD. I bring in the laptop. They are a big soccer bar and are more than happy to have us, even with me hooking up cables, stringing an extension cord for the laptop and the less than optimal quality. We usually get a good 20 or so for the games. During the USOC match against Dallas last year we had standing room only in the area were we watch in the pub. close to 40 or so with several others normal pub patrons taking intrest and asking questions.
