How does a team that's bunkering down get called for offsides? That's skill. OK, I'll shut up about the Icelandic tactics now. It is still 1-0 after all.
The Mexican fans outnumbered the Bruin fans by quite a bit at the UCLA/Mexico game last fall. Too bad they don't come to other UCLA games to see Iris Mora.
57' (?) Hamm jukes her defender and takes a shot from a bad angle and hits the side netting. Probably would have been better to cross it if there was someone there.
61' Sobs cross from the right and someone (?wagner) gets a head on it, but easily cleared. 62' Wagner does some battling in the box, gets a shot off, but the gk gets it.
And what if Landon and Bianca went out on a double date with ... Any Nomar shots yet? He doesn't have to report to spring training in Fort Myers, FL, until the 20th.
62' hamm on the right flanks sends cross to wagner at the near post, gk gets it. 65' ISL makes a sub, #11 comes out, 17 comes in? 14 comes in too, don't know who game out.
The US has become a possession team with an almost total inability to score unless the defense makes a mistake. They keep using the "bunker" excuse but NEWS FLASH: Teams bunkered against the US in the past and the US still scored bunkers in tight quarters. Where is the 1v1 chance taking? Where is the surprise in the attack? Where is the creativity on attack? Where are the goals going to come from? It is the coaches job to find players, set style, and find a strategy that breaks bunkers and other defenses and April seems totally clueless as how to manage these great ladies into the top team we have seen in the past. Every play the US makes is VERY predictable I have an 11 year old girl here that has called the passes and runs on virtually every US attack. If an 11 year old can do that watching on TV just think how easy it must be for experienced players to read the US. The GK look great partly because the US is so easy to read.
Re: And what if Landon and Bianca went out on a double date with ... NOMAHH! NOOOMAHHHH!!! Nope, haven't seen him.
Helgedottir with the great save on Hamm! It looks like some serious rain in Charleston. Question for the floor: Is that benefiting Iceland or otherwise affecting play?
Re: Re: And what if Landon and Bianca went out on a double date with ... I'm sure they'll interview him in a bit
my question: why are they crosing the ball? why were they not doing that when parlow was in thereduring the first half? you would think that crosses would benefit a team that has a height advantage...and we had that in the first half, just makes no sense to cross so many balls now.
69' FK from ~25' but nada 70' another ISL offsides. 70' nice combinations play from the US earns a corner. Mia connects with Tarpley who heads it over the ball.
71st minute Well, there's JP with the first Freddy Adu mention. I was hoping this would be a Freddy-free zone!
I think they're probably crossing because its the only way to get the ball in the box, there's so many defenders back.
