I was close in my prediction of the team. Poor Hanna. Not again. That woman has such bad luck in the World Cup.

Scurry should have received a red card for a hit on Hanna!

Goal by Lilly. 28th minute. Matchtracker miswrote that Parlow scored but then changed it to Lilly. But it's down as 2-0 to the US!

    1-0 US after 30 minutes.

Another hit on Hanna! Ball in the face. Ouch.

USA up, 1-0 on a fine strike from Lilly on the dish from Hamm.

Okay. It was more of a bad fall for Hanna but she must be hurting.

2-1 Goal by Victoria Svensson in the 58th minute. Great header from a cross. Up there with the great headers by Otani(last goal) and Sinclair yesterday.

Poor marking by Fawcett. The header was a floater that took forever to go into the net. Scurry got there but didn't have the vertical leap. Any male keeper can save that one.

Run of play seems to be favoring Sweden. We look tired.

3-1 Boxx scores. Brava to her. I don't know about the goalkeeper's position there. Someone should have been on the other post. 78th minute.

Sweden are a scrappy team, fun to watch. I think the last goal really took the air out of their sails.

And Box, wow, she's a keeper.

Goals in her first three games? Wow, wonder if she can keep that up.

Mia down in the box. Crowd roars for penalty - nothing doing.

I believe that it was Sobero(sp) not Facett that was trying to mark on the goal.

Either way it was VERY poor marking. You do NOT front a player unless you can keep any ball form going to that player.

Actually most male keepers would not have made the save either. They would be too busy screaming at the defense or the referee.

Gotta love the pigtails that Swedish player is sportings.

    CK - Hamm takes it.

    Milbrett misses.

Maybe it's the pigtails, or the way Sweden is fast, but lacking certain skill, but something about their team is making ours look old.

Or maybe it's the way the U.S. ladies look so grim, like they're on a life/death mission.

    Have a little fun, gals.

Any insight into the armband Lilly was wearing and its significance?

    Yellow to Sweden.

    Scrappy match.

    Full time.

All said, we responded to Sweden's pressure well. The game was closer than the score would suggest.

Sweden was pushing hard for the equalizer.

Fawcett's mistake might be costly, inl ight of Chastain being out. The defense can't afford to lose confidence.

Terry Gannon looks really pleased to have Mittsie beside him in the booth.

Some good saves by Scurry. US didn't do their best in the second half. Rather sluggish.
