Got our big point in azteca, should have got three. It is what it is. Tyler Adams staying out of card trouble is clutch Panama has no choice but to throw the kitchen sink. They must play for the win. They have no choice. Obviously that benefits this team. Gotta figure out the stupid forward situation, it’s a crisis now
Sounds like Shaq Moore is in Orlando, per Berhalter just now. Opting for familiarity, which makes sense, but underscores his mistakes earlier in the year in not integrating Scally in.
I'm saying 3 or 4-0. Team will be pumped to lock up qualifying and Panama tied Honduras at home. WTF.
The good news is that the El-Salvador Costa Rica match should be over before the US-Panama match starts, which will be nice. And the good thing is, we now have quality depth....even with all the players we are missing, we will still be able to put out a strong lineup. Adams, Acosta, Musah, and Roldan will all be available to play in midfield. Reyna, Pulisic, LDLT, Morris, and Arriola will all be available to play in attack. Now we just need to find a striker who can put the ball in the net.....
Use our depth to introduce some fresh legs. I would go with Reyna and LDLT in midfield along with Adams. Ferreira at forward. Replace Weah with Arriola. Roldan and Busio come off the bench. We got this.
This is how we know Gregg should be fired: playing 90 minutes for the US in the single most important game in 4.5 years — Shaq Moore. Second division. Has played 2.2 of the last 7 games. Guess what Panama’s game plan will be? And ask what would have happened if Yedlin had gotten injured in the first half?
Greg deserved a W this day, this should have been iced. Players let him down….. today, but that’s tactical not strategic, snd this is certainly a strategic problem. Panama playing for the win at all costs is big, that’s important for us to impose our will early.
Tyler Adams would have slid there. I really don't get the complaint. We called 3 right backs and from what I understand the Cannon stuff happened less than 24 hours ago.
I thought the best part of this match is the US didn't play timid or afraid to make mistakes. Some of that is this version of Mexico isn't very scary, but still, I was happy to see it and somewhat surprised by it.
Shaq Moore is in. Obviously, Joe Scally should be there (same with Brooks) in what I consider to be an unforgivable exclusion. But since Berhalter is blind to Scally, I guess he should call in Lennon too who is in good form. Nevertheless, that RB spot is a huge question mark, and hopefully Moore doesn’t get exploited. Which three right backs? Dest? 24 hours that could have been used. Seems like you’re bending over backwards for Gregg to count Dest and give a pass on 24 hours as if it doesn’t matter.
First, hope Moore doesn’t get pantsed. Second, hope he doesn’t get hurt. It’s a must win game with a game day roster of 23, but Gregg will roll with one RB. He’s so cool!
Yes, Dest, Cannon, Yedlin. The hours were used. Shaq Moore was on his way to Orlando before this game even kicked off, but realistically you're not going to get a European based player to take an international flight and be ready on 24 hours notice and 0 time in camp with the team. You just have to hope Yedlin doesn't get hurt, and worst case you turn to Adams.
Okay, so then we still had 2. Being 2 deep is normal in soccer, and sadly sometimes if you have to turn to option 3, it'll be a guy playing out of position
Not snark, I truly don't understand. Should he have gone 3 deep at every position? That's not possible, so why is it more important to be three deep at right back. Again, just trying to understand the pov, not putting it down.
I think he should be 3 deep at training camp at every position. For most positions you can share depth. So you don’t need 33 (although nothing’s wrong with that). If you have Dest and Scally, then you don’t need 6 outside backs either, but if all you call are specialists, then you should have 3 of each either in camp or able to meet the team within a few hours so that you can have 2 on the 23. Gregg’s approach means the US will play at least two critical games with one RB available for each game. There has to be a better way.
Fair enough. I think they'll get someone in for the Panama match, but the point that Scally brings versatility to either side for cover is a good one.
I think you go with EPB at RB and just ask him to play simple. ———-—Zimmerman—-Robinson————- —-EPB————————————-Jedi——- ————————-Adams————————— ————-Yunus————-LDLT—————— ——Puli——————————Morris———- ————————Reyna—————————
He obviously doesn’t rate Scally, and would rather have Moore or Adams as cover. I don’t agree but it’s his job to rate US soccer players and figure out a depth chart
