I think we drew a decent group and should get out of the group stage. The England match will be awesome

England beats us. We intentionally lose to Ukraine out of fear of social backlash and bow out early.

    9 points or bust

But really, I expect US to advance. Probably on 5 points. GD deciding 1st and 2nd

I'm all in for US and England. Group A looks like it should be a cakewalk for Netherlands

Holland had a habit of screwing up those scenarios
I think Senegal wins the group and Ecuador gives Holland a run for their money for 2nd

I say we lose to England 1-2, we draw Wales 0-0 and beat Iran 3-1. We go thru on 4 points. After that who knows?

Bold of you to assume Wales get through. I think the winner of Ukraine/Scotland (if that actually gets played) is who goes through

    Not really bold.

    FIFA Rankings:
    Wales 18
    Ukraine. 27
    Scotland. 39

With my hat on as someone teaching a university class on Sports and International Affairs this Fall, I want Scotland t go through. Having USA-Iran is amazing; adding England-Scotland would take the group through the roof.

FIFA has tried to make a ranking scale that isn't purely subjective, I appreciate that, but the above two teams were in the playoffs, one not making it in, the other getting barely by Turkey (43).

Mexico is rated 9th in that, too, and nobody has them pinned as a top 10 nation right now. Not even top 20, in current form.

For Wales: They are a truly confusing team. Bale and Ramsey seem to turn it on when playing for their country, so they make up for a lot of it that way.

Ukraine, if able to play, will truly be a team that everyone wants to succeed and playing with a lot on their shoulders, both good and bad.

Scotland, my pick, has a really good team that will be VERY up to play England and the group.

So Wales it is. I still say we finish with 4 points to get out of the group.

First game has to be 3 points IMO. A draw isn’t end of the road, but a loss would doom the squad

that said, England look a shadow of themselves recently so maybe the supposed top 2 (USA and England) won’t play out that way

though my Scotland prediction was so very off so take everything I said above and reverse it

I wouldn't put a lot of stock into the Nation's League (FIFA Cash Grab!) that's going on right now. None of the big players want to be involved. This is their vacation. Yeah, England looked bad, but so have pretty much everyone for significant amounts of time in each game.

We have looked pretty RSL like in the past two matches.

I hope Berhalter figures things out because I don't see us getting out of the group stage based on how we played the past two matches.

IMO will not be indicative of how we will do in the group because I don't see the group foes playing anything like Japan or Saudi Arabia. That doesn't mean I think we will get out of the group...

What I'm internally conflicted about it how well I want the US to do... On the one hand I'm a fan and I like to cheer for them to succeed. On the other hand 2026 WC is the real one for this group and I am not sure I want Berhalter to be the coach for it... If this WC goes well there is no reason to fire him... I think I'd like Jesse Marsch to have then entire 2026 cycle...

Leeds goes down in the next couple years and Marsh will jump at the opportunity.

Most likely scenario, given current form, is that the US will fail to get out of the group. 4 points at least required, win one, draw one. I can see us Drawing England, beating Iran, and losing to Wales or something.

Our only hope to get out of group is that the addition of Pefok miraculously gives our attack a whole lot more oomph than we saw in the last 2 friendliest.
