well, if it worked like that, maybe Buehler and Boxx shouldn't be starting. ;)

Matchtracker is up and running for me. Does anyone know of any fans tweeting during the match? USsoccer doesn't offer the type of candid remarks I most enjoy...

I'm not saying I agree with it, because I definitely do not see Loyden up to WNT starting standards at all. But, trying to figure out the reason why she would be, the reason I gave makes the most sense.

    what/who does GLB stand for?

ps - did anyone see the blog post about the visit to Akers' horse farm? I really enjoyed it, though I was hoping for video footage. It says she'll be at the game tonight.

Well Pia does have to see what her backups are capable of. She knows what Barnie can do without Solo we need to be cognizant of what we can bring defensively if Barnie were to get hurt.
I would have rather seen a GK that didn't make so many bonehead decisions as Loyden did this year, Naeher or Harris (even though neither played the whole season) played smarter.

Hey she may be inconsistent but she shows up at big games. I really don't care if she plays like crap against China so long as she scores against Brazil ... or germany

Goal by Rapinoe in the '22 minute mark. She sounds like she's everywhere today.

China responds 13 minutes later. 1-1

Matchtracker made it sound like it was an excellent save by Loyden and then an equally excellent upper 90 shot from China outside the box.

BUT then the US scores 3 minutes later by O'Reilly, assisted by Wambach. 2-1 US

Cox in for Buehler which is odd. Pia loves to run Buehler for all 90.

yeah but Pia still usually plays Buehler longer. She mentioned at Algarve that she played every minute of every match. I am pretty sure that Boxx and Wambach did as well but she only mentioned Buehler.

Yeah but I think she meant that when Buehler is playing CB. Usually CB's are expected to go the full 90.

My thoughts are up on AWK. Briefly:

-Rapinoe was fantastic on the left-wing. Where was this form during the WPS season.?

-For that matter, most of the wide players excelled. HAO actually resembled a living, breathing star, unlike the shadow playing with Sky Blue this year. Full-backs bombed up the line well.

-Abby used her strength to great effect to create opportunities for herself and teammates. Ball across the face of goal to set-up HAO was a thing of beauty.

-Lilly is the freaking Energizer Bunny. Still going strong.

-Loyden was acceptable in goal. Wasn't tested thoroughly though.

-Not convinced by the CB partnership of LePeilbet and Rampone. Slow to cover each other at times and at others, just slow period.

-Cheney and A-Rod were meh. Cheney did some things well, but hardly looked like a serious danger. A-Rod spurned two golden chances once she came on.

-Lori Lindsey just doesn't seem good enough for this level. Poor distribution and ponderous on the ball in possession.

-China have fallen a long way. U.S.' bad finishing bailed them out to a great extent. Not hard to see why they failed to qualify for the World Cup. Looked distinctly second best in strength and pace and lacked real firepower up front.
