Wasn't near our best team either. Certainly yours was much more fit and much more experienced.

Sanchez would be playing, not coaching. Their best team stands outside of time/space. And THAT is the TRUE Mexican National Team...

i agree. someone said in an earlier post that Rico was not Nats material. other than one really bad pass in the first half, i thought he was one of our solid players tonight? i saw Mastro give it away at least four times or so, but Rico seemed to be there for cover each time. still don't like the 2 d-mid formation. we definately didn't control the game tonight, although we won?

Is anyone else here having a problem where they can't stop grinning? Mine started just after Landy's goal and has been persistent since. Also experiencing intermittent bouts of giggling.

    US team did good.

Howard, Donovan, Conrad, Bornstein - great games.

Some of you posting here: strictly our C team fans.

When you win, it's nice to behave like it's not a new thing for you.

I got that too, and I was just going over to have a look.

It appears we have some sore losers over in those parts.

The highlights of the game were just on Sportcenter and they showed that punk ass Sanchez trying to take out EJ.

    Excellent post.

Second. It is sad that the majority of Mex fans I talk to and see posting have no problems with the cheap plays, poor sportsmanship and object throwing.

Talk about watning to live up to bad stereotypes. Makes me sad:(

You only earn respect by showing it. The ultimate lesson that man y Mexicans can't seem to comprehend or learn.

I'm glad I was wrong. What a terrific game!

Bornstein, amazingly fast with blistering acceleration at that! Future star left back!

Conrad, good positioning in the defense, provided good coverage, and a nice goal to boot.

Howard, he bobbled a few that he should have smothered, but overall good positioning and reflexes in goal.

Donovan, he was silent for stretches of the game, but really helped out the attack by quickening it up a bit. Although, I do remember once he did trap the ball and passed back to a midfielder when he should have slipped it back to his left to Rolfe (or Dempsey, whoever). I second wynalda's comment on him finally going around the defender and not through them as well!

Convey looked like he was on crack (or jetlag) in the first part of the game didn't he? I mean, it was considerably worse than I'm used to see him play. Glad he cleaned up his act in the second half.

I would like to have seen Gros or Mapp in for Clark(e?) today. Gros looked good when he got on. Nothing really amazing, but he did make those simple passes that counted. If I'm not mistaken, I remember him make an excellent pass down the right wing to Johnson that could have been more if Johnson had backup.

If Sanchez was so set on taking out EJ he should have hit him or tackled him or something. His slide tackle was pretty damn weak.

Might have had something to do with how well Tim Howard played. I feel so much more confident with him back there.

A win is a win. A win over Mexico is tremendous.

But that was ugly. Rolfe didn't help himself tonight.
