BURN TO FACE COLORADO RAPIDS IN FOURTH ROUND OF LAMAR HUNT US OPEN CUP TUESDAY, JULY 20 AT 7:00 P.M.

DALLAS – The Dallas Burn will face the Colorado Rapids in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup next Tuesday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl.

Tickets for the match are currently on sale and are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12-years-old and younger. Season seat holders will be able to use their Super Ticket “A” for the match.

The Burn advanced to the fourth round of the 2004 Open Cup with a 2-0 victory over the Virginia Beach Mariners on June 30. The Burn, along with Columbus, were the only MLS teams to enter the tournament in the third round. Colorado, along with the other MLS squads, is entering the tournament in the fourth round.

Dating back to 1914, the Lamar U.S. Open Cup is the oldest soccer cup competition in the United States and is among the oldest in the world. Open to all affiliated amateur and professional teams in the U.S., the annual Open Cup is a single-elimination tournament based on similar competitions played across the world concurrent with domestic league action. The winner of the tournament will receive $100,000 in prize money, while the runner-up receives $50,000. The Burn won the tournament in 1997.

I am wondering about this. I assume we can buy tickets at the stadium. Will both sides of the stadium be open? I say we get in the shade for this one if we can. Either way at least we will be able to tailgate before this USOC game.
    Hope to see everyone there.

If you do opt for the shady side, try to get seats near Sec5, Row6, Seat8 'cause that's where my "season seat ticket-A" seat is... :D

The last Open Cup game at the 'Bowl was against Colorado in the Quarterfinals back in 2002. We won 1-0, on a Ronnie O'Brien sudden death goal IIRC. I was there, only the reserved side was open, it was all GA. Only about 1000 people there, and that was when we had hispanics, I can't even imagine what its going to be like this game, I'm going to try to bring my friend though...

I am figuring they will only open the library side and make it GA.

Ohhh....I'm gonna feel all special and pampered being over on the "nice" side. Should I wear my red tuxedo? Maybe we should drink Miller Lite instead of Busch for the tailgate? You know, class up the whole deal.
