The Navy has just said they are going to be putting $2 billion into the X-47B program, which is a big deal for a program that has been limping for a while now. The first airframe is close to being complete, and there is already a pole model that is undergoing radar tests - supposedly, the thing makes other stealth aircraft look like barn doors with "here I am" written on them in neon. This isn't supposed to impact F-35B (the next generation fighter/bomber for the Navy), but this seems so much more attractive for lots of reasons.

Really? I've read that current stealth aircraft have a radar image smaller than a single bird. How much smaller will the profile of this unmanned aircraft be? Or, are you referring to other aspects, such as visual appearance or sound?

Stealth depends a lot on the direction the radar is looking at the aircraft and what kind of radars are used. In best case scenarios, a F-117 will look like a bird, but in worst case scenarios it will show up very big (not that the worst case is very likely). And the Russians are always working on radar types that better detect stealth aircraft. The X-47B's simple shape and especially its lack of cockpit are big helps in maintaining a low radar return.
