So, what is the best result out of this game for the US?

I'm more concerned with advancing, to be honest, so I'd rather Germany thrash Ghana to eliminate them and get the group down to 3 teams before we even kick a ball against Portugal.

German blow out I would think. Highly doubt Ghana will phone in the last game against Portugal, threatening our GD lead. They have to much pride.

Since we're all assuming that Germany will be our toughest opponent in the group, I'm assuming we want them to smash Ghana and run up GD.

@nekkibasara made an interesting post in US Men about Germany's recent history of being a bit flatter in the middle match of World Cup group stages. It's just a data point, but certainly an interesting one.

I don't think we want a blow out I think we want it to be a dogfight that Gemrnay prevails at the end, but having to fully extend themselves to get the three.

It is going to be hard to root for Germany though. I think Ghana has a real chance. If they take their missile chances on frame, it will be a ball game

If rumors about Ghana's infighting are true, this won't be a contest.

If you're fine with advancing second, then you want a Germany win. If you think we have a good shot against Portugal and/or Germany, then you want a Ghana result because that gives us an opportunity to finish first in the group. But it would also make a first round exit more likely if we don't do our part.

Like FA said, I'd be more concerned about advancing.

I think a big reason for it is the team taking their foot off the pedal. This group of players, especially at club level, has a tendency to show some arrogance after getting big starts to tournaments.

KPB said Germany wont be WC winners cause the lack personalities like him on the team. Mehmet Scholl said he heard out of the German team "they are looking forward to meet Kevin in this game".

Though it wouldn't serve us at all, there's part of me that wants to see Germany get upset. I guess we'll have to do it.

Why athletes in all sports need to run their mouths and give opposing teams bulletin board material is beyond me...

That's because Ghana are going to pounce on a Lahm mistake and get a result of some sort.

My German side wants another demolish.
My American side isn't sure what's best but knows the best thing is to just win tomorrow.
