According to HomeDepotCenter.com, we have this: 1/22/05 Soccer US Men's National Team vs. Korea Republic Soccer Stadium Has this been mentioned somewhere on these boards yet? Tommy Mack
If this is true, will those 5,000 local Koreans finally come to a game at the HDC? If so, I'd love to see the cute Korean babes & who Arena calls up and plays.
Grant Wahl's latest article mentions a USMNT training camp running the month of January at the HDC with matches (no location given) against South Korea and Sweden.
I've heard of such rumors. I think the Korea one will have a great turn-out, but SWEDEN?!?! Unless there's a hidden, massive, Scandanavian soccer-loving population that didn't show up against the friendly against the OTHER Scandanavian nation (Denmark)...well...I don't think that there's much of a shot at a good attendence there...
Maybe on "FIFA 2004" on your Playstation they do, but on the pitch, no. 1/19/02: USA 2, South Korea 1 6/10/02: USA 1, South Korea 1
excuse me but 1956: Korea 1-0 USA (friendly) 1983: Korea 2-0 USA (Presidents Cup) 1987: Korea 1-0 USA (Presidents Cup) 1988: Korea 0-0 USA (Olympics) 1989: USA 1-2 Korea (Marlboro Cup) 1994: USA 1-0 Korea (friendly) 1994: USA 1-1 Korea (friendly) 2001: Korea 1-0 USA (friendly) 2002: USA 2-1 Korea (Gold Cup) 2002: Korea 1-1 USA (World Cup)- we totally dominated this game
Wow, impressive. Korea has only beaten the US one time in the last 10 years and has never beaten the US in a meaningful competition.
Also, I just looked these results up. The USA and Korea never played each other in 1956 or 1983. http://www.rsssf.com/tablesu/usa-intres.html http://www.rsssf.com/tabless/skor-intres.html http://www.ussoccer.com/teams/stats_results.sps?iType=265&icustompageid=208 http://www.footballinkorea.com/html/1950s.html http://www.footballinkorea.com/html/1980s.html
Guys, give the guy a break: he's been really busy galvanizing the Koreans to go check out one of the top 100 players of all time... And keeping up w/ the shenanigans of the Korean federation. After all, they must not settle for anything less than being the fourth best soccer team on the planet. If Koreans want to talk smack, especialy about the refs' performance, I mean "their" performance in 2002, bring. it. on.
A 3-3-2 record over the last 15 years and no win exceeded a one-point margin - that's about as crushing as a mosquito on Godzilla's butt. We're Kim Jong Il, you are kim chee.
Hey at least this European family got to go to the HDC and not get horns in their ears and give my wife a chance to yell at stupid soccer moms and their baggage in Danish. Seriously though, the USMNT needs to have some friendlies against teams that will actually bring their starting line-up and not an entire B-Squad like Denmark did. Not one Danish international took to the field and the game was not all that amusing to watch. Good thing we will go to Germany for WC06 to see some quality international matches.
