Having seen the DC United folks stuff a poll last week, it reminded me of the USA Today "Survivor" poll they ran during the 2002 WC. I can't remember the precise details, but I believe people were voting teams or sports off the poll in a Survivor fashion and the US WC team was among the choices. We on BS organized our votes so we all voted on the same team to ensure that one would be eliminated and the Nats wouldn't lose out because of vote splits. Well, after a few days, the poll was pulled because groups were voting blocks to ensure the best results for their team. I enjoyed that. Thanks for the memories.
And here I thought this thread was going to be about some crazy woman following a Central American team's bus around the city of DC while honking her horn and waving her American flag at them!
you forgot the playing "chicken" part she's a damn spitfire that one is. or Project Mayhem oh wait, what's Project Mayhem?
While the US-Honduras match in 2001 is best forgotten, the streamer brigade, organized here on BS made for a nice display at the beginning of the game. Too bad the crowds and the results weren't quite as nice.
One of my finest contributions to US Soccer, and I can't claim it because it doesn't actually exist. What a bummer. I wonder if my old Tyler Durden hotmail account still works?
PM is a central american conspiracy to discredit the emerging tradition of american soccer... it's a counter-cia plot within the liberation theology movements... if we permit this plot to succeed, our future winning of the grand trophy is in doubt!!
Actually, the Project Mayhem memories are pretty memorable. The half dozen US fans at Dulles airport to 'greet' the Honduran team. We were there with about 300 Honduran fans. The team was whisked out the back way. The PM folks still went over to their hotel, but the Honduran fans missed that. So there.
nancy... don't start such threads i thought you finally found your foreign player to marry (have many more children with) and were being taken away from BS...
