They were so confident. Actually, all of them took them with such maturity.

    Even Duvan. Perfect execution.

Looks like we're facing Argentina as expected.

They get the second goal after Ecuador make a mistake.

Oph what a nice free kick from Messi. Argentina are going to be our toughest test yet; they're in fine form and have the confidence now.

    .

I admire the composure with which Argentina handled the Ecuadorian press. They played at one touch and waited for Ecuador to lose composure, which as a young team, they did eventually.

Argentina looks great, but we have great players and need to focus on what we can do to them...and put Barrios to spy on Messi all game.

I'm glad Argentina got a lot of goals out of their system. We have nothing to lose in the semi and several world class strikers that are well and truly due for a goal. Emi Martinez is amazing in goal, but just like with Uruguay we have to believe in ourselves.

Ecuador gave that game away with that 2nd goal blunder. Defensively they are like jelly. Up to then, they played them pretty good. 3 days rest for Argentina and I think they travel to our place in Brasilia? There has to be some wear and tear on their side at this point.

James must be eating some humble pie at this point. Hoping he gets to see how he can make a positive impact and just add to this team.

Not much more to add that has not been said.
    I am still in shock.

    Very happy though.
Glad to see us go through on penalties. Even happier to see the Uruguayans crying. Not going to lie one bit, they are such punks.

    On to Argentina...

James won't eat humble pie unless we win this thing. Remember he was with us when we got 3rd in 2016. In order to moviate him and the other players who couldn't make it we need to make a statement by making it to the finals and winning this thing...

I don't know if he ever really will. Even if we pull off some crazy run here, it's clear we would be much better with someone creating chances for Duvan and Muriel.

I think no matter what, assuming James is starting somewhere this fall, Rueda and him need to find a way to squash it.

Look I seriously think regardless of how this Copa America ends for us James will be back regardless and it'll be water under the bridge between him and the coach.

Let's be honest: this has been blown more out of proportion thanks to the media and how the fans have taken this whole situation between him and the national squad.

Things will get normal by the time we play again after the Copa America since the other players who couldn't make for various reasons will be healthy and likely less restrictive. Falcao and James will be 100%, Arias is continuing thereapy and fitness with his ankl since the summer started, Quintero won't be restricted to China, stuff like those.

But what is on my mind is how James isn't on social media talking about the team nor the Copa America. Is he simply just keeping himself separate from it to avoid stirring up the bad rumors as well as just distancing himself from all of that?

whatever, James is getting old so he won't be around for too much longer regardless. Soon he won't even be able to move anymore.

Considering how old Messi and Ronaldo as well as Zlatan play despite being in their 30s the new standard of players playing longer in their careers before retirement.

I do think 2026 will be James' last world cup cycle before he either retires from the national team or just football as a whole.
