http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...o-Tottenham-s-Robbie-Keane-article500359.html just guessing, but i doubt OnGoal is willing for fork out over 50K a week.
Just for reference, that's about $75K US. So over the course of the year that'd be about $3.9 million. Which would make Keane the second highest paid DP behind Beckham.
I think he is the kind of athlete that Kansas Citians would appreciate too. He has that rugged, hardworking appearance and being Irish doesnt hurt either. I could just see the city embracing him. I think it would be a good value too. I just dont see it happening.
Is it just me, or is our last loss and the Gudjohnsen deal probably falling through the cracks just an insanely depressing combo?
Things arent any worse than they were before the WC break. I had a thought that maybe 2 weeks of practices could of lead to some problems being solved but everything is the same if not worse. OnGoal has been pretty good about having contingency plans so my hope is that they have a few players they plan on talking to about the DP slot.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...on-Kjaer-Edinson-Cavani-accepted-Palermo.html Spurs are after another forward apparently, could hurt Gudjohnsen to Spurs from happening...
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=803800&sec=transfers&cc=5901 Although Spurs have apparently denied it.
Generally Robb doesn't just get on here and blow smoke up our collective asses. Sorry if I wasn't being excruciatingly cynical.
I commend our ownership from setting their sights high, but I really, really, really, really, really, really, can't picture Gudjohnsen ever playing here. The guy has played with some of the swankiest clubs in the world in Chelsea, Barcelona, and Monaco. You would need one hell of a PR job to convince him to come play in a minor league baseball stadium in Kansas.
all true, but we probably average around the same number of fans at our home stadium as monaco does, believe it or not. that club is unreal in how little regular support they get for the personnel they employ.
partially guilty as charged. it can be a decent strategy of fandom, though. it avoids some of the disappointment (like what you're experiencing with the depression), and then if something improbable like this deal were to actually happen, it allows for greater levels of surprise and elation. you call it cynicism, i call it emotional efficiency.
I think the last loss was far more depressing as I never bought the Gudjohnsen thing at all. I'm not saying Robb was smoke blowing but he only ever said an approach was made, not that we were in talks with him or anything else. When I saw Spurs in there as well I pretty well thought it smacked of taking a shot at a great name to see if it happens and to at least put the Wizards in a place where they could say they tried. That probably does make me cynical .... but man its gonna sting to not be. They also don't pay taxes in Monaco and its the playground of the rich and famous. That might be the one place in the world were bums in seats has nothing to do with how much money they can spend. With taxes in the rest of Europe really high - 50%+ for high wage earners so Monaco is an attractive stepping stone for players. Plan for the worst, hope for the best ....... should be on our scarves.
Haha. Yeah, I can definitely understand that. Especially in our current state. I'd like to order some emotional insurance too, please.
