is there any real source for the $1.3M number, or is everyone still taking that completely made up number from the rumor blog as gospel?
First , I have to say that I will most certainly miss Christian Gomez, who comprised a lot of the heart and drive of DCU these past years with Ben Olsen. He was a great player for DC and wore the colors proudly. I am sure that barring the DP rule he would still be with this team. If we are indeed paying Gallardo over 1M are we going to get twice the player that Gomito was? This is what I have a hard time justifying. I'm sure that there are better ways to look at this but right now this is what I am thinking. Of course, us winning a series against a Mexican team this year would cure that quickly. Anyway, I will be a Gomito fan and wouldn't mind seeing him with Colorado or another western team. Vamo United.
Unfortunately, the cost of players increases exponentially as their skill level goes up. It's not as easy as twice the pay=twice the player.
I'm seriously bummed about losing Gomez. I know he is on the down slope of his career, but he was still a key player for us all last year. With more skilled players coming in to take the pressure off of him, he can still be very dangerous. We saw this in games with Fred, Emilio, and Moreno playing at full strength.
Yeah - if you follow that line of thinking, Gallardo would need to be worth 100 - 150 developmental players.
