Soto could be the next Eddie Johnson, if he sticks with it. :)

Fun to see these young kids get a great result. The competition was relatively weak. Personally, I'm not reading much into this game other than good thing these kids are getting caps and experience.

    What'd I miss?

Should have been Ream's testimonial. He gives up easy, soft goals every.single.time.he.plays. Enough already. If you need him, play him in midfield and bench someone else. Every USMNT coach has his agoos I guess. Rico Clark, calling Rico Clark

Soto's goal was pure Deuce. Late run into the box, sensed the ball, strong finish. I think Sargent is the most talented all around 9 we have, maybe ever, in the sense that he can straight up ball in midfield. He has hit that inflection point where playing on a bad team in a good league is now making him a worse soccer player, but a better competitor.

Soto looks like the business to me. I don't know about that new guy, he has a lot of Agudelo to me, the Giocan guy.

Reyna looked dead tired last match and much of this match. Boy needs a nap. A two week nap. He's only 17! Mck played a much more composed game until he had his red card moment. I don't mind it, Panama was getting chippy. He got some pats on the back from the Panama players. Missing that LAST time CP got donky'd by Panama and MB was morally offended! but did nothing about it. Adams has not been starting with Leipzig for a reason, he is playing a step slow in his positioning. Needs game time. So do a lot of these 'future' guys riding the bench or getting 15min dead space time. Moose continues on the path to being the best all around midfielder the US has ever seen at what he does...up until he sees the final 3rd, then he turns into an American...just our luck .

They were also both at RSL Academy, IIRC.

What? EJ? You want him to go to Fulham and fail? EJ is a pure scorer, but he had a terrible soccer mind. I saw him break at Fulham, take the ball 30 yards like lightning, beat everyone, then for no reason stop at the top of the box, hold-up and look around like he just realized he's an earthling. Deadly finishes, but he can't implement a game plan, pass, hold possession, pass, first touch, pass, but he can run and he can kick. Soto is an actual soccer player.

Who play off the bench, if they play at all (minus Geo, he's earned his chops, apparently. Adams, Mck, Dest and whatever are bench warmers and time fillers right now)

If your basis is one or two touches and you are talking about Tim Weah, then he would definitely fail from your perspective. I once saw him on one of those youtube soccer challenge videos where he was competing against 1 or 2 other professionals and his skills looked awful. I assume that he has other attributes to bring to the table (speed, etc?).

The thing I question about Tim Weah is his decision making. He has all the physical tools to be a solid player but he always fails to get an A on the test.

To continue with Reggie Cannon - on the Panama goal 2nd half Reggie Cannon watches as the scorer glides by and he raises his hand to indicate off side which was not given. On Holden's call it is "Ream and Miazga appeal for off sides......"

Just a minute or two afterwards, as Holden realized time was winding down and he had not put in the obligatory praiseful ode to Reggie, he was quite happy to muse that Reggie had been "solid". He calls Cannon's pass to Ledezma and overlapping run when Ledezma measures up and assists Soto on the goal. Instead of commenting on Ledezma's great cross on the replay he talks about Reggies' "overlapping run". Post game he talks about who was good for USA and he says all credit to the fullbacks and mentions that he had said in his pre game remarks that Dest was our best left back.....etc.etc. It could be misdirection from Berhalter in prep for the Ocho but more likely it is just US Soccer hammering on their agenda.

At the half, the USSF featured Kellyn Acosta and Yedlin in their advertizement.

Not sure if you are "enlightened" or not but are we happy about USSF selling certain types of people without taking into consideration that it should be a competition for spots based on performance?

Did Lalas hammer on his pet peeve to "convince" Nagbe to accept call ups?

You can say that or another explanation would be that Soto scored a zillion goals after Ledezma passes at RSL academy.

He doesnt get over the ball.

On a more positive note, he is a pure joy to watch when he hurries the keeper. One of the best.

I don't know if I'm drunk for real, or just drunk off a 6-2 win, but just noticed after being her for almost 20 years, the banner above says,
"All about the US Men. Click here for women."

Was disappointed when I clicked on it.

Shamwich for a shamdemic, anyone? McK started once and while coach thought he had uncovered the next Edgar Davids (always overrated in my book) what he got was a player who can't make an attacking pass to influence the match. You saw this at Schalke04. Don't be surprised if he's an 'emergency' right/left winger fullback CB soon. Adams hasn't started in weeks and looks a step slow. Dest is on/off again. Gio is the only player of these to have a lock on his position. Steffen? nope. Llanez, Ledezma...There was a lot of blah blah about this or that club, but 90% of this team doesn't start at their clubs.
i thought Soto's goals were ignored by the Media. Won't be surprised if he gets buried under 'superior depth' by beerholder. Quien Sabe Porque!

Don't even start this, man. Bud Light doesn't sell itself. It needs to be marketed because it's crap. Tell enough people it tastes good and eventually they will believe you. Meanwhile most of the media completely ignored two completely excellent Soto goals. Lastly, Ream...seriously. Just c'mon already. I hope the guy makes a billion dollars as a pro and hair care specialist but keep him off the team as a defender. Slow, always always always gets beat man to man, gets beat for physicality, just gets beat, every time. Defender split Miazga and Ream, yes, very lazy by miazga but Ream IS LOOKING RIGHT AT HIM!!! does nothing.

Sam, that's wrong, McKennie has started 3 of the 4 games he has played with Juve. He was held out of the Napoli game and missed the next 2 with Corona.

I'd have to say that the rest of your analysis is on par with that take as well.

Ream is there for a decent left foot out of the back when Brooks isnt there. Berhalter already has said (implied, anyway) that he doesnt expect Ream to be on the roster in Qatar.

Great pass by Weah. I wish he could that more often so he could have a chance to play in France (PSG).

Your point? Do you really think that the USSF has an agenda to get Acosta and Yedlin on the roster for the USMNT?

There is no agenda. The USSF is too clueless to have one. While you think that USSoccer has the guile of the KGB, I liken the federation more to the Wilson brothers in Bottle Rocket.

He will have to perform at Lille if he wants to win a transfer to PSG.
