How will the US players handle altitude? I've heard it takes its toll on players in the 2nd half of matches.
It's an issue. Some players handle it better than others. Will be interesting if Mexico brings in players from high altitude Liga MX areas.
Going for it. It’s risky, but is probably the choice I’d make too. There has to be a part of Berhalter that says, I believe in you. Now get it done tonight. For all my criticism of Berhalter recently, I’ve got to give him credit for the big balls approach.
We won't own the ball in midfield, for sure. Just need to look to defend and make a play when opportunity presents.
With that lineup, you have to get points. I think the better choice was to save it for Panama. But this choice isn't a definite failure.
my biggest worry is Steffen over Horvath, but I'll be cheering my head off for Zach to prove those worries wrong.
Goalkeeper Sean Johnson, defender Reggie Cannon and midfielder Gianluca Busio did not dress for tonight’s match.
went to Mexican twitter to see their lineup but not there yet but there was this... History, beverages, and their National Team. 📖🥛⚽️Get to know more of tonight’s rival. 👀🤓🇺🇸#ApoyoIncondicional | #HechoDeLosMexicanos pic.twitter.com/ppoouOu1tE— Mexican National Team (@miseleccionmxEN) March 24, 2022 Eggnog?!??! GTF out of here with that shit.
I'm worried about the Musah/Acosta mid. Musah has been subpar for a few games and Acosta is wildly inconsistent.
make it a theme and eat em up! take those enchiladas like were about to take their place in the table
and im as wary as anyone about acosta as an 8, but on the left with jedi and pulisic is a small but hopefully important distinction from other matches
More or less agree w/ the philosophy, but the execution is poor. - Acosta & Adams duo - Acosta as the 8 (presumably) - The far worse shot-stopper in net - Pulisic instead of Reyna starting when the former's struggled competitively against better comp in int'ls - Pepi up top, when he was lackluster v. Mexico even when he was in form - a 433 which is likely a 451 since we seemingly won't have game control I like the idea of going for a result here, but just not what it's with, and how they're set up. We could have preserved a couple more players for Panama, while also giving us a better chance to win this one by setting up a counter game.
I dont understand the play the b team mentality and lose on purpose to get possibly have a better chance against Panama mentality. That is how you lose both games
Acosta isn't inconsistent as much as he is subpar when asked to play the 8 as anything more than a late game defensive sub....so, yeah. He definitely needs to be on the field tonight, but I would've started him at LB.
