Certainly not playing left back. He seems to stationing him self as a left center mid and aiming to cut inside.

What an utter snoozefest. But can't really expect much on a ground like this. The camera angle hurts my eyes.

 

I know these matches are not easy to play, but with Bale it is different. You can see James, Vini, Casemiro etc. at least trying but Bale is scared to get injured again and loses all the duels.

 

Decent half from us, played some intricate football around their box at times with only the final pass letting us down.
We’re playing in 3rd gear but we need to try to score another goal or two to kill this tie.

It just seems like Madrid knows that this team isn't on their level and can't get up for it. I took the not celebrating the goal as related to that. You're playing an overmatched team on a rinky dink pitch, and score from a deflection. You feel a bit weird celebrating wildly.
