Tannewald has some new documents in regard to the Peter Nowak lawsuit: Here is a section on Nowak hazing rookie players. It is a bit graphic. pic.twitter.com/t3Y21kXTPv— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 6, 2016 Nor were they allowed to play unsigned trialists in ticketed games. Nowak took exception. MLS responded thus: pic.twitter.com/9mTS5x6JjS— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 6, 2016 An excerpt from the filings: Peter Nowak's opinion of concussions, and the MLS Players Union's view of him. pic.twitter.com/yqQ8NLSfsj— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 6, 2016 Peter Nowak also used Shep Messing as an intermediary to reach an agent to try to find jobs in Scotland & the UAE: pic.twitter.com/4DEpkjNNKW— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 6, 2016 Peter Nowak also tried to sweet-talk Veljko Paunovic into coming with him in his managerial travels: pic.twitter.com/ec8vXhXd8h— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 6, 2016
Wow, I mean, WOW! How this organization has survived this long is a miracle. I don't know who looks worse in this whole mess: Nowak, Nick Sak, Union Ownership, or all of the above? Good lord Nick Sak is even sleazier and more incompetent then we thought. I honestly hoped that that wasn't possible.
Talk about a conspiracy of dunces. Nowak is by no means a genius but he was still smart enough to plan his escape before anyone knew how bad the organization really was.
And now, with 714 pages worth of PDFs in my Dropbox folder to assemble in the office tomorrow...— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 6, 2016
If there is a link of the document that can be read could someone post it here. I'm unable to use social media at work and I have many many hours of free time at work. for some strange reason.
Here's a link to a piece from Brotherly Game which includes some details (though it's not exactly what you're asking for). And here's a good excerpt for you: "Mr. Nowak did not deny that rookie hazing took place during his tenure as manager...including joking, singing, dancing and paddling of rookie players....Mr. Nowak also testified that prior to engaging in this activity, he received pre-approval from...Tom Veit and from Nick Sakiewicz....he indicated that a videotape was taken each year by his assistant coaches, Rob Vartughian and John Hackworth, in 2010, 2011 and 2012. He further testified that he was present when those videotapes where shown to Mr. Sakiewicz and others and that Mr. Sakiewicz loved it and never instructed him to stop the rituals." From Nowak's side, Nowak testified that Nick Sakiewicz pre-approved and subsequently condoned the hazing activity: pic.twitter.com/mqI6QxNDqD— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 6, 2016
Oh, we've been spanked plenty. Nowak appears to be crazy, but he wasn't wrong when he told Shep Messing the following:
Philadelphia Union: Now spanked by our opponents, not our own coach I believe JT tweeted that he plans to post the documents later today.
Tannenwald says that Sak threatened to sue him for libel because he was chasing down all these stories regarding Nowak. FFS.
abuse of a minor and using illegal players are a couple of the things that stand out to me. crazy stuff
I'm assuming the minor who was hazed was Jack Mac, right? Wasn't he 17 years-old when he was drafted? I also find it interesting that the assistant coach involved in this is the current US U17 head-coach.
