    Rent the movie "Green Street Hooligans" (netfilx or blockbuster), and you will know what a firm is. It stars frodo from lord of the rings (forgot his real name). Pretty good flick.

    A football firm (also known as a hooligan firm) is a gang formed to fight with supporters of other clubs. Some firms, especially in southern and eastern Europe, have been linked with far right politics or racism, other firms have been associated with leftist politics or anti-racism. The firms' political views are not representative of all supporters of the teams. In the 1970s and early 1980s, the casual subculture transformed the British football hooliganism scene. Instead of wearing working class skinhead-style clothes, which readily identified hooligans to the police, firm members began wearing designer clothes and expensive offhand sportswear.

    Football hooliganism has been depicted in films such as: I.D., The Firm, Cass, The Football Factory, and Green Street. There are also many books about hooliganism, such as The Football Factory and Among the Thugs. Some critics argue that these media representations glamorise violence and the hooligan lifestyle.

    We're just there to support the team as loudly as possible and have a good time. Violent behavior is definitely not welcome. If you're looking for a fight, look elsewhere. Please.

    Before I judge you too harshly, what interests you about a firm?

    this is why i get a head ache when i talk to people about soccer.... and the very fact that you would want to promote anything that within its defintion mentions racism is offensive... do yourself a favor go rent fight club and try to start one of those...

    yes, please, keep this out of Philadelphia. If you want to get your rocks off being a hooligan drive up the turnpike and run with the Red Bulls' skinhead crew, we dont want that here.

    Sorry, wasn't trying to promote a firm, just wondering if any existed at any MLS cities. Yea, sure I said Union Jax, but I was just goofing.

    And yes, green street hooligans the movie, rent it, its a good flick... thats why I was asking because I stumbled upon this movie recently.

    Ugh. Firms, gangs, hooligans....it's all crap.

    I would recommend that no one rent Green Street Hooligans. The last thing we need to be doing is glorifying idiocy to impressionaable, young minds. This culture of behavior was destroying football in the UK and praise the police/gov. for stepping up to eradicate it.

    West Ham has spoken out against this film as being bad for their image and the game. I agree.

    BTW - I am not a conservative, my politcal views are anarchy - which means personal responsibility. Hopefully individual, responsible behavior is what we have in Chester so we don't have to heavy handed security forced upon us.

    Wasn't going to post in this thread until this post. I was a Red Bulls fan in the SOB section yesterday for the Gold Cup doubleheader. Right behind the goal, row 27.

    I literally couldn't believe the non-stop racist banter from many of those around me. I do NOT hear that garbage at Giants stadium.

    There's one in Chicago, DC (though I'm not sure if any of them attend matches anymore), New York City, Toronto, and a joke of one in Columbus.

    They're not particularly active, and not very well organized either (for the most part).

    skinheads =/= racism

    i know a large number of jersey shore skinheads. they are anti-racist, but not anti-violence. My experience with them is that if you are on their side they can be very friendly and inviting, but if you have the smallest beef with them, you are going to wake up in a hospital.

    about 95% of these people who i know from this crowd are GSS or in other RB supporters groups

    A friend of mine is Dutch and lives in a suburb of Rotterdam. one night he woke up to a big commotion on his street: crowds, police, etc. It turned out to be an internal fight between two branches of the Feyenoord supporters group over a girl.

    Yeah, but Centennial Firm is a name only, they are not a typical "firm" in the violent sense. Their code of conduct clearly spells this out, and the fact that the Rapids acknowledge them on their website tells me they are not hooligans. (I really hate that word!)
