It's the one thing this past month where the cancellation was cancelled... There was a lot of conflicting information before this Championship kicked off – even about what type of tournament it was! Earlier it was named "the first Uniffac U-17 tournament" (-GabonAllSport) – in a quote from the president of Uniffac! That age condition must have been dropped or ignored, as it isn't mentioned later. The team entries were also finalized near the kickoff. The Congo DR Leopards squad news (-RadioOkapi) listed 4 wrong countries, and not the Central African Republic who did play. The most interesting news was the Central Africans, who began this tournament in only their 3rd international match, after two in 2018. The CAR scored 2 points as a virtually new team, with draws v Chad & Gabon. Apparently they were "formerly a major basketball country", quite a boast. Managed by Merly Kayongo and captained by Florencia Yamale, the Central African GK Bénédicte Somboya also won praise from CAF online (Archive). Despite the winless run by Gabon here, there have been some positive signs in support for women's club football recently. Final report is below, and from some other matches with photos and interviews. Eq Guinea also won honours for the MVP, Celestina Mansa Besecu, and golden boot Salomé Nke with 4 goals. - UNIFFAC women's tournament in full swing in Equatorial Guinea (Archive) - EQG and DRC in the final of the UNIFFAC tournament (- CAF)/(-Gabon) - Equatorial Guinea wins first ever UNIFFAC Women's championship (Archive) Equatorial Guinea (AfricaTopSports)
