I have read many of your posts; and always I wonder: what the hell is a Mexican doing in Finland? Do you miss Mexican food over there?
Damn Farfan, if you hate all things Mexican stay away from threads where Mexicans converge. We have no time or interest in mean-spirited, ignorant trolls as you.
This is not a bad thread to bump, as I didn't see it the first time around. There's a wonderful Taco Truck here in Stamford, CT which I found a little over a year ago. They serve true Mexican dishes there, and it's far better than anyplace else I've had. Even a co-worker who spent many years in Mexico said it was spot on. Strange how the Americanized version of Mexican food ruined the true flavor of a good taco, burrito, or torta.
They really don't have a clue here in Japan. Damn how I miss the little hole in the wall Mexican places in Queens NY.
since you're ( by some quirk ) one of the tiny minority of people who inhabit my friends list, i think it's my obligation to tell you that your food dollar should only be invested in Taco Bell in dire emergencies, and then only if you purchase from a limited number of menu options. technically, most of what TB serves doesn't qualify as food, except in the strictest sense. oh, you can eat it as food, but the point of food isn't mere nutrition, is it? here are the 3 things you can buy at TB and still consider yourself savvy in the realm of comestibles: a) cheese roll-ups -- you can order up to 4 of these, but you will need to take a Lipitor within 15 minutes -- i really recommend drenching with the hot sauce in the packet b) the enchirito -- upgraded to white meat chicken c) pintos and cheese w/ mexican rice -- perfect protein to be honest, i haven't tried anything from the Volcano Menu yet. i've taken a huge risk in sharing what may be controversial information. i'm glad you have found pleasure in Taco Bell up to now. but broad is the road that leads to destruction.
To each his own, I guess, but Taco Bell gives you a lot for the price, as far as national fast food chains go, they do give you a lot for the buck. *I used to think NYC didn't have decent Mexican. I mean, it's not Chicago or anything, but I did find some great taco carts in Jackson Heights. *Mid-tier restaurants in NYC tend to be overpriced and overrated, but I'll make an exception for Dos Caminos. *I love, love this episode of No Reservations [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez6GKqQAgE8"]YouTube - Anthony Bourdain in Mexico[/ame]
No Reservations is cool and all, but nobody on TV does Mexican Cuisine quite like Rick Bayless. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeFl3bShnQ4"]YouTube - One Plate at a Time with Rick Bayless - Mexico[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLRCy3Nz5II"]YouTube - Camarones a la Vinagreta[/ame]
Seafood so fresh it's still fighting you on the way down! Taco Bell has its place - around midnight when you are wasted - but it should not be confused with real Mexican food. I think most people on this board are sophisticated enough to know the difference. And I can't see ordering anything named "volcano." I worry enough about erupting when I order off the regular menu!
