What are you basing Melina Rebimbas on ... ? I keep seeing that name floating around and find it the most surprising if true.
my daughter played her club years with a player currently at unc. she told my daughter last night that in her class, 2022, that everyone hit the portal, minus her and 1 other player.
Slightly more complicated. Players were recruited with the expectation of the competitive cauldron, but also with the expectation that unless they were *really* far down the bench they would still play with the second group... the group that got 15 in each half. They took that away this year. Players weren't even getting the minimum they expected with precedence and the recruitment pitch. Everybody is concerned that these players are leaving because they're unhappy about play time, and while that might be true I'm concerned that this might be a sign that Anson and Damon has signaled they want to continue to shorten their bench despite the tactics obvious failures this year.
It doesn't seem like playing time can be the only issue. Almost nobody played more than Emmie Allen and Emily Colton. Tori Dellapuerta was a starter. Melina Rebimbas probably got less time than she expected, but presumably would have started next year.
Did Dukes program collapse? What about Virginia? They didn’t even make the tournament. Steve and Robbie better close up shop and call it a day. We lost two games all season. Last year we made it to the final game. I’ve only been a soccer fan for 4 years and honestly only because I have no kids and my niece is my life and it’s her sport. I am a baseball guy. Coached it (not professionally or collegiate level) my entire life but a life long fan and I’ve never seen anyone turn in their team so quickly.
Rembimbas was a massive loss. She would have been a started the next 3 years definitely. That was the only one who is leaving that surprised me.
Colton wanted to finish with her sister, but Allen I have no idea. I know they have a very strong goalie coming in, but I would guess Allen would have remained a starter.
Gundry was/is a FR and she was nowhere to be seen most of the year. I don’t think Emmie is worried about losing her spot.
