Also, DC College Cup, Labor Day weekend http://www.american.edu/athletics/msoc/articles/2002-03/8-12_msoc_dccup.htm DCU is going to be involved with this and the SEs maybe as well (as the AU sports fans group is also called the Screaming Eagles). K
A win? Don't count on an easy win. Sasho's boys will be highly motivated and UDC won't use their top players (on second thought that may make them better). The ACC is looking for an 8th team to round out the conference maybe UDC can fill the bill since the MLS seems too challenging for them over the past three years. Seriously, good luck to both team when they get back to their respective leagues, it would be nice to have some good soccer back in town on both levels.
I'm pissed that I have to miss this one. I'm going to be out of town. I think it will be an entertaining match if the Terps are looking to prove something.
TAILGATE/UMD METRO SHUTTLE INFO Tailgating is allowed (beer and grills are OK) UMD Shuttle General info http://www.inform.umd.edu/shuttle/summer.htm Click on College Park Metro station for times. Shuttle drops of near Stamp Student Union so you still have to walk a bit to Ludwig field. See map http://www.inform.umd.edu/CampusInfo/About_UMCP/Maps/northwest.html The Metro shuttle will get you TO the campus. Take the Summer Circuit after the game to get back to the Metro (the other shuttle stops running around 7). K
You can also take a wide array of Metro Busses to and from campus. Lines run from College Park Station, Greenbelt Station, and Prince Georges Plaza, among others (even Silver Spring Station). They all drop you off by Cole Field House...Ludwig Field is at the rear of the large parking lot (Lot 1) just to the side of Cole. Campus info is 301-405-1000, and the website is http://www.umd.edu You do NOT need to be a student to take the College Park UMD Shuttle bus from the Metro Station, but I'm not sure that you will be able to take the Circuit. See you at the game!
Somebody please score for DC United. I don't care if it's one of the Maryland players with an own goal. I just don't want to go without goals any more.
Does this game count in DC United's "scoreless" run? Particularly relevant for the "guess the minutes" pool...
expected attendance? what kind of turnout can be expected for a match like this? are the UMD students back in school yet?
Re: expected attendance? Not quite. Some are on campus but not all. We can till out cheer a buch of medeling kids.
Re: Re: expected attendance? Actually, UMD will be in the final week of its final Summer Session. Classes resume after Labor Day.
Re: Re: Re: expected attendance? Well, that's a relief...... Less of a chance to get caught in a riot or fire in College Park that way.
