My first thought was...haha glad to see that Umbro and the CSA have a sense of humour. My second thought was...maybe we'll even be as recognizable as Man City. My third thought was...oh snap if this is legit then I really hope we wear either the white jersey as the primary kit or plain white t-shirts. If the national team seriously has to wear them then that's a good test of self-esteem right there. Next is to actually win games wearing these things or else we won't have much to say when people judge our team by the look of these jerseys.
I find our "modern type" crest/logo doesn't work with the design. More than anything I'd like a new logo. Overall the shirt isn't too bad...i'd give it 6.5/10. Nothing special.
They do look better on players, but still are pretty horrible. At least they're better than the ones posted earlier.
Oh dear, the shirts are dreadful. The white is ok but the white/black colour combo on the red shirt does not work at all.
Well, an attractive shirt should boost sales somewhat - which would help the bottom line for the CSA. Pretty sure that knock-on benefit is hard to quantify though. I think Kara Lang would look good in that lousy shirt from page one.
So this isn't a hoax as I hoped it might be. Dammnit, I guess we will have to watch our team look like college grads/mounties every game.
As opposed to the Adidas jersey where they looked identitcal to every other team that wears red on Earth?
I like them. Mostly because finally Canada has a style to their own. The red/red combo was horrible IMO. They looked like every other nation that wears red on earth. The red/black combo is unique to Canada (mounties, which is what people think of when you think "Canada" , at least in the UK).
Yeah, I remember when I was in Belfast, a few times I was talking to people in a bar and they'd say "Are you American?" I'd say, "Canadian." To which they would respond "Oh, same as." ...and then I'd call them Welsh.
Sure why not? It's a simple design. We're simple people. I don't get this new design. Are they trying too hard to do something symbolic? Are these leftover prototypes that Man City rejected? And what does the keeper's kit look like?
The official press release identifies the chevron as related to Canada's military history, with the Umbro and CSA logos in "finely embroidered". The MSRP for the jersey is $60, and the point of the historic chevron linkup is both uniqueness and because 2012 is the CSA centenniary year.
Mate, with respect, Canada is not a simple country. 5th generation anglo saxon Canadians may think that their communities may be simple, but they do not solely represent this incredibly diverse nation.
