I have no idea why Llanez wouldn't be an option for Wolfsburg at least as a late sub. The red card obviously ended any real chance they had to get back into the game, but even before that, they couldn't really carve out any clear-cut chances. Very anemic offensively.
Whatever eventually becomes of Llanez, the things they're saying are the type of compliments you get before you get loaned to Austria or Jahn Regensburg.
Hey guys, hey think he will probably maybe debut relatively soon and we are going to be ok here. Give it a sec.
On the surface, yes, but Wolfsburg is the proud owner of a few shiny, new, in demand, American toys and if they want to keep getting gifted those toys for Christmas then I seriously doubt they would risk lending one out. The obvious problem here is Glasner doesn’t give a shit about scoring goals. He only seems to care about not giving them up. I’m not sure how this works itself out. I actually think they could be right up there with Leverkusen and Gladbach if they wanted to be, in both points and goals. Maybe the higher ups will force him to give Uly some minutes down the stretch and like what they see. If I was one of those higher ups, I’d be pretty displeased with what he’s done this year. Sure, they’re in position for a Europa league spot, but I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about what could have been
I always cringe when they bring Klaus on... he has shown me absolutely nothing the entire season... and he is often replacing one of the real (few) offensive threats. I actually think the midfield for Wolfsburg is quite strong both offensively and defensively. I like the choices they have at wing-back and Arnold is good DM. But they could certainly use some talent at forward. Not much talent there beyond Weghorst and Ginczek... and they aren't exactly burners. Uly could really make a difference.... but I am not holding my breath. The coach doesn't seem to give looks to a lot of young players.
I’m really not going to get to any work done the next couple days. Hoping that comment by his coach was just trying to light a fire under our boy.
Maybe we’re just better at this than we give ourselves credit for. Or maybe the coach finally has no other options. Could we be so lucky that both Gio and Uly make their first start on the same day? Logic says no, but I’m going to dream for the next 13+ hours
It was either Uly or Alex Mendez who said in an interview that the coaches in Europe reminded them of how Kleiban would talk to them. They grew up with that, so they understand when a coach is trying to keep them humble.
