Wolfsburg are 6th, 14 points behind Leverkusen, and hanging on to the last Europa League spot for dear life. Brooks starts in central defense, while Llanez is on the bench and could make his senior club debut today. Kickoff is at 2:30 PM Eastern on FS2.
A couple great long passes from Brooks so far and more desperation clearances. It looks like it's going to be a busy day from him defensively.
Sargent could’ve selfishly taken that ball out of a dangerous position but let it go to teammate in a dangerous shooting position
Joao Victor has completed 3 of 8 passes through the first 38 minutes and picked up a yellow. Bleak stuff from him, but hopefully increases the chances of Llanez coming on.
Nice goal by Wolfsburg. I think Brooks scores that if the first guy missed it. Two tall guys wide open in the box...not great defending from Leverkusen.
Clean sheet at the half for Brooks and the Wolfsburg D. They were under pressure early, but didn't break. Brooks shut down Haaland over the weekend and now is keeping Havertz in check. Not too shabby.
Doyle brought this up in his column the other day. There's statistical analysis that shows even with 3 subs, it's better to sub early, and now that you can have 5, it seems even smarter to make a couple at halftime when things aren't working.
second was like dang, third feels like a good opportunity to get a guy with a card off and give a kid his debut
So with Wolfsburg up 3-0 away, it's worth observing: Since the Bundesliga restart, home teams have won 3 games. Dortmund v. Schalke, Hertha v. Union, and Bayern v. Frankfurt. If current results hold, that's 3 wins from 22 games for home teams. I figured that the lack of fans would negate home field advantage a little bit, but not to this degree. I wonder how long this trend will hold.
Leverkusen are getting absolutely wrecked on set pieces. Pongracic with his second of the match, 4-0 to Wolfsburg with 15 to play. Marmoush on for his Bundesliga debut.
Wolfsburg sub in Omar Marmoush for what might be his debut and PUT IN LLANEZ YOU'RE UP 4-0 ASDFLKADSJFSDLFJKSADKJFLS!!
