Yikes this kid showed really well for our NT in 1-2 games to now be playing around a USL level is quite sad. Not sure if Wolfsburg could have done any better with his loan destination but surely he’d be better somewhere in MLS, even if it’s one of the lower performing teams.
That's my understanding as well. The level isn't great but I think playing in a "real" league, particularly for a team that is trying to get promoted, is still better than playing in a reserve league. But an earlier post made it sound that he was released rather than he is on loan so I'm not sure what is going on.
Wolfsburg II did play in a "real" league trying to get promoted, though the German 4th tier isn't anything special.

There’s absolutely zero reason to play in the 2nd Austrian bundesliga. None. This kid is well on the way to ruining his career. Reminder to never get near a kleiban.
I mean, he's playing soccer against adults, which is an improvement from last year. Tear up this crap league and get a winter ticket to somewhere else should be the plan.
Sounds like there are some issues getting him registered: https://www.skn-stpoelten.at/de/aktuelles/auftakt-in-die-neue-saison
Finally able to play: Uly Llanez's visa is in, he's cleared to play for St. Pölten & he's back at it Friday! Huge opportunity against last season's top table club BW Linz. BW Linz won the league but did not apply for promotion last season. @uly_soccer7 let's get it! 💪— Marcus O'Malley (@Chasingacup) August 4, 2021

always warned that U19 Nord/Nordost is weakest region and U19 not a good indicator of anything and showings vs adults which is only thing that matters. that Soto and Llanez not doing much post U19 but languishing in lower levels does show that their good showings in U19 should have taken with grain of salt. also not boding well for Llanez that younger 02 W Hong (also on loan from Wolfsburg) has been used more regularly but not lighting anything up. that rarely happens with players tied to German clubs. With German clubs usually you see it out a loan and only flop loans get axed in Winter. Wolfsburg signed cooperation with St Poulten would be in bad taste to axe loans halfway through.
