It's going to be the lead in to the premiere of The Ultimate Fighter 7. They haven't finalized Denver yet, but everything is pointing that direction. If it changes Marcel can change the title. I'm excited because it will be the first UFC event here in a long time. And remember that UFC 1 took place here. It will probably be in a smaller arena than Pepsi Center as it's not a PPV and I think UFC wants to test the market before doing a big show like that. Three fights that look to be almost set are: Kenny Florian vs Joe Lauzon Matt Hamill vs Stephan Bonnar Marcus Aurelio vs. Spencer Fisher
Re: UFC Fight Night 13 :: 4/2, Denver? If those 3 fights end up happening, it would be a good card for a UFN.
Re: UFC Fight Night 13 :: 4/2, Denver? This is happening, those three fights are set, and yes, it should be a pretty good Fight Night. Anthony Johnson vs. Tommy Speer has been added to the card as well. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing Rampage and Forrest interact on TUF - they should be able to build their match really well. (I'm taking off the ?, as this is actually happening. )
Word on the street has it that Karo Parysian vs. Thiago Alves will be on this show. So yeah, this Fight Night should pretty much kick ass.
Since this is going to be the lead-in for the premiere of the new TUF and they'll obviously be pushing that througout the show I wouldn't be surprised if Rampage and Griffin are at the show to promote. I'll have to see about getting a day off that week to go to the weigh-ins.
I have a friend in Denver. How bad will tickets set you back for one of these things as that card is pretty good for a non-main event type of card.
This show is now officially three hours, what with it being so stacked and all. Live matches: Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon Karo Parisyan vs. Thiago Alves Matt Hamill vs. Tim Boetsch Houston Alexander vs. James Irvin Nate Diaz vs. Kurt Pelligrino Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard (may or may not be televised, depending on time) Taped matches: Marcus Aurelio vs. Spencer Fisher Josh Neer vs. Din Thomas Jeff Cox vs. Manny Gamburyan Samy Schiavo vs. Clay Guida Roman Mitichyan vs. George Sotiropoulos Anthony Johnson vs. Tommy Speer
The prices were $40, $75, $150 and $250. Currently Ticketmaster shows the event is sold out. When I got mine the only price sections left were $75 (which I went with) and $250. They went really fast and I'm sure 2nd hand tickets will be really high up there.
I'm not much of a sign maker. But if news leaks that somebody punched Joe Rogan in the earhole then you'll what happened.
Spencer Fisher fight has been cancelled due to injury. Too bad. Why the F*** cant Clay Guida get some love? I cant rememmber but is that list you have the updated one? PS I love Joe Rogan
florian/lauzon should be interesting, really interested in seeing the new tuf, griffin has really risen in starpower since his tuf victory
I would pay for this on pay for view if I could see all the fights on this card even the prelims. Great Card
Indeed - I would do the same. This should be a really, really fun show. And don't forget to watch The Ultimate Fighter afterwards!
It was a great card. Somee interesting results some unexpected results. Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon. I guese Florian is that good. Karo Parisyan vs. Thiago Alves- Wow Houston Alexander vs. James Irvin- Put to strikers together it can end really fast. Nate Diaz vs. Kurt Pelligrino what a match I could not believe the result. Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard (may or may not be televised, depending on time) I am glad it was another upset in my mind. I taped the new UFC that was on later but have not watched it yet.
Karo came in looking like he was on the krispy creme diet. WTF? There's absolutely no excuse coming into a fight like this in that kind of shape. Reminded me of the UFC when it was first starting out and they were letting anyone into the octagon. Then he has the gaul to protest the stoppage. Karo is a GIFTED Judokon but god that guy can whine with the best of them. Its really unfortunate someone that talented has to be such a bitch. I like watching him throw people, just wont stick around for the post fight interview. Definitely...the fight of the night had to be Nate Diaz. There is no quit in this kid and he'll keep going even after you pummel the shit out of him. I used t have the worst nightmares back in college of getting into a fist fight with a huge knucklehead and no matter how hard I'd punch the guy, he'd smile and keep coming after me. Thats how this fight went with Nate. Peligrino had to have been discouraged. Nate's ground game is awesome. Even when you thought Nate was in the trouble (gave up his back a lot), he'd find a way to defend. Then he puts him in a triangle and starts celebrating the win before P even taps out. That was outrageous. Im going to look forward to him fighting again. Any one else catch Irvin tell Houston to meet him in the parking lot afterwards?
the only thing separating this event from a pay per view was the crowd, crowd was kinda out of it great set up by florian, a lot more fighters are really cleaning up their ground game, more and more fighters coming in have some ridiculous jiu jitsu skills and how about rampage and forrest talking trash???? now that was something
It would have been had the ref not allowed florian to elbow the stuffing out of the back of lauzon's head. they really need to find a way to curb out that kind of crap because even if unintentional all it takes is a eye poke or a good hard crack to the back of the head to take an opponent completely off his game. and whats the punishment, a point off? its a joke.
I know I a bit late here, but what was the best KO of the night??? I guess the nod would goto Johnson. Damn, I never seen someone paralyzed after receiving a blow.
