So can we assume that departing players will not play in the remaining Champions League games, or might they? If not, then any new signees would--after practicing with their new team for, what, maybe three weeks? A bit odd, to say the least.

I believe players can get a short contract extension until the end of August.

Watching the Bundesliga; Wolfsburg usual top GK, Lindahl, has not played for them since the restart(she’s switching to an Spanish club for next season). Leupolz(switching over to Chelsea) mainly been coming in as a sub over at Bayern Munich. I’ve seen other players as well that have announced switches getting limited playing time. So I would say NO in the two German teams .

Yes, that's what one-legged ties means.

    @L'orange Was this your idea?!

They can't do that, it'll lead to excitement and random scorelines caused by stomach upsets

Ha: I did suggest that. All football tournaments, and qualifying for them, drag on a long time--too long, one might argue. That said, it's a playoff round--and most playoff rounds in other sports are "best of" series involving multiple games, so there's precedent for multiple games--and playing two does give each team a home match, which is fair. FIFA and UEFA will not shorten/streamline their tourneys; in fact, they have expanded them, yes? More teams in the World Cup; more teams in the Champions League. That is what all sports do--expand the playoffs, add more playoff teams and more playoff games. Why? To make more money. Every pro sport has periodically/regularly expanded its playoffs. That's where they money is.

Should do 7 round playoffs 4 out of 7 games is the winner, NBA style.

    No, they should not :)

The Champions League has particular circumstances - the biggest changes have been not so much expansion as exclusion. All the increases in the men's CL (a rough guide to what might happen in the UWCL) only seem to have helped about 4 countries and their teams.

Schedule as per the rumour from last week. Big news

"Teams will be allowed to register three new players on their List A for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, provided such players were already registered and eligible for the club since the last registration deadline (18 March 2020). List A will still only be able to contain a maximum of 25 players. It will not be possible for clubs to register newly-transferred players. "

Teams who are having a busy transfer window will be weakened unless they can extend the leaving players contract until 30 August.

"Five substitutions will be allowed in all the remaining matches in season 2019/20, in accordance with the temporary change to the Laws of the Game, whereas the number of substitutions for season 2020/21 will remain at three."

With three games in nine days applying the 5 subs rule make sense

We have the kick-off times now:

Arsenal have put to their fans that the games are all behind closed doors. But the UEFA president has opened the doors for possible fans attendance.

Why are PSG and OL playing at the same time? Isn`t it possible to have one game at 18.00 and the other at 20.00?

It is a good question. It is actually frustrating because I planned to attend both games. Same thing the day before will have to chose the right game.

If I didn't know better, I'd say it looked like an error (there's no clash with men's CL which is on separate days), and they really meant 6pm and 8pm each day. There's no real reason to play simultaneously, is there?

To be certain of no overlap, they would need kickoff times 3 hours apart, like in World Cup knockouts.

2 hours are enough if Glasgow-Wolfsburg is the first game.:)

Well, yeah, 20 minutes would be fine for that one.

Any idea what French TV will do about the PSG and Lyon games? I'd like to get in early and accuse the broadcasters of massive favouritism towards one club

The rights from the two clubs were sold to different pay tv channels prior to the Covid-19 break.
Be In Sports for PSG home games
    Canal Plus for OL games

Glasgow City will make the final 8 because of a generous donation to pay for testing and plance chartering. Amazingly, they would not have had enough money to make the trip otherwise.

Independent teams without a men's team backing are struggling to compete at the high end.
