Not defending the rule, however the logic behind this is: - Just like the attacker who should be aware of his/her position to not be offside, the defender should also be aware of the situation. If defender knows Lukaku is offside, he should have left the ball, by playing it , he is not being aware of the position of the attacker. Not defending it, just explaining the rule. Cheers,
Had the defender left it OR had he not attempted to PLAY it, (rebound for example) it would be offside, however, since he attempted to play, the law is, NO OFFSIDE.
I'd contest that logic with it's far easier for the attacker to know if they're ahead of the second to last defender than it is for the defender to know if his defensive line is where they're supposed to be and keeping the attacker onside or offside. I've always had an issue with the official letting the play develop when it comes to making an offside decision. There's all kinds of things that could negatively develop if play isn't stopped quickly in terms of injuries etc. On a micro level if I was an attacker I'd be so pissed to continue my movement and expend unnecessary energy only for the AR to grow a brain and call it. Make the AR call the offense quickly and you can do away with this ambiguity of "well if the player should know this..." crap. Being an AR was a great job and correctly calling offsides in a timely manner isn't difficult. Maybe they need younger refs who can keep up with play.
There's a movie in there somewhere about the family dynamics of the two brothers. Get Kevin James to play Eden and Ryan Gosling to play Thorgan.
I am really scared. I always claimed to have ESP. Less than 12 hours before Eriksen's issue, I have a conversation with my family over heart condition. A friend of a friend just died in her sleep because of heart issue. She was only a teenager, a swimmer who was suspected to have a heart condition. "The soccer players collapsed on the field and died occassionally. They were worlth millions of euros. The club checked and checked, and still could not detect heart conditions," I said to my family. A few days ago, I read about the rumors of Ramos' returning to Sevilla. I ended up googling the careers of Antonio Puerta. I was looking into his relationship with Navas and Ramos. I watched a Youtube video of his son, but I did not understand a word of Spanish. Last night, while working on my blog(I will publish today)team. I just discovered that Aitor Karanka's career was limited there due to pericarditis (heart ailment). Just now, I was writing about it at the moment that I discovered about Eriksen. I skipped the game and stayed away from news to avoid reading the score before I decioded if I wanted to watch it. I was googling pericarditis while watching Belgium-Russia on replay. So in the last 48 hours, that was what I have been doing.
Hahahaha. Yes. TV personalities finding their behavioral psych degrees in these moments is tradition. Acute psychological trauma treatment specialist abound. It was moronic to play that game even if some players wanted it. Why not agree to a draw and end the match and let the players process what they’ve been through instead of putting them through physical stress right after they’ve been through mental stress. It’s funny how stuff like that happens and there’s never any uproar about it, says a lot about us as people.
Shay obviously they did it for football. For the love of the game in the battle against wealth and greed.
Also younger, taller, fitter, smarter and better looking. Other than that, Eden got the better genes.
Denmark’s captain @simonkjaer1989 ensured Eriksen didn't swallow his tongue when he was unconscious, gave him CPR, told the squad to form a protective shield around him, consoled Eriksen’s horrified wife & has now led his team back into the game. You, sir, are a hero. pic.twitter.com/ih3qJm1x7s— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) June 12, 2021 Thank you doctors [emoji120] Wish him speedy recovery [emoji120]
Sorry for your loss, that is way too young to go. I still remember watching the situation with Puerta live and it was immediately clear this was not ok, that something was really wrong. I really hope Eriksen is alright, that is so scary for him and his family.
I do not know that person. It is still shocking. Thanks for your kind words. I was living in Boston when Reggie Lewis of the Celtics collapsed during a NBA playoff game. It was hyped up game as he played against Mugsy Bogues's Hornets. They were High School teammates. Bogues was a cult player at the time. It might be Celtics' first playoff series without Larry Bird. Lewis was asked to retire. And then, he had a second opinion, which cleared him of his heart problems. I do not remember the details noir I understood what it was being said about his condition. He announced it that he was okayed to return. "Are you sure that the second opinion was right?" I said to myself when I read it on the newspaper. Lewis died two or three months later.
A lot if not all players on that level have a disability insurance. Ditmar Jakobs, former HSV player believes that about 90 ercent of all active professionals have a sport disability insurance. Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer would get a payout of 52 mil. Euro in case of an injury that doesn't allow them to continue playing when they signed the deal, for example. I remember reading into the subject and how a lot of them worked is that the insurance would supposedly continue paying them the value of their current wages into their early 40s. I beieve Schweinsteiger had a similar insurance. So when it comes to playing or not, i'm hoping Eriksen is taken care of well enough that money isn't an issue at the slightest. Him being healthy for his family should be the absolute number 1 priority.
Danish social system is so good that he and his family would be taken good care to live a decent life.
@Excape Goat I kinda know your feeling. I recently was hospitalised with covid for 8 days, my lungs got infected. I have been out of hospital now for 5 weeks but still not recovered 100%. Am having chest pain and doctor was concerned it was a heart problem. Did EKG and blood test and he said no reason to believe it is heart. Chest pain is also quite normal for post covid patients but deep inside me im still concerned, what if doctor was wrong.
so England starting win none of two great LB (Chilwell and shaw) and with Sterling.. wow, what a choice..
To be honest, I’d go with Trippier aswell, if he can play on the left he’s a better full back than both shaw and chilwel
I don’t understand Southgate for that one. Sterling who’s a natural LW and been missing for 2-3 months starts in Sanchos natural position. He’s not even injured so least get him on the bench.
Massively underrated for them. There was talk of Atletico cashing in on him in the summer which would be stupid IMO.
