No. 21 UCSB Dismantles No. 7 Akron, 5-0 In Season Opener

Wow. What happened to Akron? Three goals in the run of play by the 32nd minute. The two PKs in the second half hardly mattered.

While it is only one game, it appears Akron is highly undeserving of its top 10 ranking.

Or maybe UCSB is highly underrated? Or maybe a combination of the two?

Or maybe it's just one bad game.

Hey, now Akron won't have to worry about the burden of being undefeated for so long.*

Seriously, I'd tend to believe it's more of UCSB being really good than anything dramatically wrong with Akron. Their success from 2 years ago seemed to me to be largely systemic, which would lead me to believe that they aren't fading away anytime soon.

*A port in every storm, folks.
